i'm not one of those people.

but i remember when the whole divine/exalt orb switch happened, chris's response was in absolute glee telling us how we should have just diversified our investments.

if theres any one time in POE's history that i feel i should get fucking pissed off at is this one particular time.

was i pissed with GGG's insistence on adding in AN? yes but i could reason that it was to simplify the monster mods. execution was horrible. but theres some good intent behind it.

was i pissed with GGG splitting POE1 and 2? fuck yes i was pissed. it was a broken promise. but with john/ggg revealing to players that they were forced to do it in order to fix melee i kinda understood. if ggg led up with this before the last exilecon i think i still would have been disappointed but i would understand and accept rather than just being outraged. the intention still is to give players a better experience.

one can say that exalt/divine switch was good for the game. you know what? i CAN agree to it. but the problem is the way chris responded had ZERO TACT. there was ZERO CARE. and it really showed "its not my problem". while players on STD had a huge lot of their investment crash.

fucking hell.

there definitely are arguments for chris. "hes not wrong" and "its a video game, you shouldnt get too invested".

to which i would say, if i m not invested i wont play nor spend any money on the game.

as for hes not wrong. if you're talking IRL investments thats true. you should never put all your eggs in one basket. theres conspiracy theories that markets are controlled by certain people, while other analysis would reveal that the market is based on trends. but in POE's case. this switch was a direct market manipulation done by GGG.

and yeah some people will also say "oh why so butthurt, some other currencies also raise in value, its all a gamble".

having something taken away always hurts to those that value the item. if you were poor had a handful of exalts but had a huge number of divines lying around of course you would be ecstatic. but on the flipside some players had hundreds or thousands of exalts that practically lost 90% of its value.

players who are PASSIONATE about the game, who spent tons of time playing. in fact i would say STD players are the most passionate among the entire POE playerbase. they play regardless of whether or not there is any fancy gimick or even a fancy challenge reward.

they play the game for the longest time and just for chris to say something so non chalantly.

damn man chris. i would have respected you a great deal more had you not made that "joke".

Chris is great but this has always been Jonathan's game. It makes sense for Jonathan to be the face.

From what i understand Mark has now taken over the ruder and is the face & mind of PoE 1 now while Jonathan is the face & mind behind PoE 2.

Chris most likely is now doing non gamedev related things like PR and the like and has no impact whatsoever how both games will develop longterm.

Maybe he founds another gamestudio and releases small indy games with his "vision", would be intersting indeed.

My theory is that he spent way too much time on reddit (the cesspool of the internet). Now he needs therapy.....hope he recovers.

This type of posting is likely the main reason why Chris stopped interacting with the community. Good job.
Guys, don't you remember seeing Chris in the livestream. He's now in endgame maps. He's the guy Mark said is 'retired and gives us a free unique'

my post is rather mild. but yeah feel free to shit on the players who got their hard work and effort technically poofed and just forget that chris practically shat on the standard community but its fine for him to do that.

if he didnt say what he did we would still be pissed. adding salt to injury is never good.

oh well. youre not passionate enough to know what players lost.

Hi, I am a Chris Wilson from GGG was on my bingo card. I hope this "bug" or hiccup will be addressed.

I was never able to understand what change made Exalts lose their value, I was not there for the switch. Could you explain it to me?

Not really involved in this either because I was SSF and mainly playing leagues at the time, but I think what causes the flip in value is the meta crafting prices on the crafting bench being changed from ex to DIV.

The reason for doing it kind of makes sense and I think it's probably a better system to have it this way, but suddenly flipping an economy is going lead to people getting angry. Even people who may of benefited value wise see that the economy in the game is completely tied to decisions the developers make outside of the game. This happens regularly with all changes. For example changes to aura reservation, that breaks some peoples builds and they get angry. Exalts is a bit more widespread and a lot of players would of been storing wealth they accumulated in the game there. Sounds like they were a bit blase about the changes. Most games with economies that have patching run into this kind of thing. 10-1 ratio is a pretty big flip to do. I've heard Chris interview where he talks about being very careful with changes to items in the game relating to supporters. Maybe they should of followed this logic for the players who invested time into the game as well.

Is this really that big of an issue though? Maybe I'm out of touch with the trade community, I see people on the forum constantly speculating about what GGG staff are doing employment wise, it's a job for them. Probably a great job, but they don't owe the community. If they found a different job or have done well enough to retire, good luck to them, they've been involved in making a pretty great game. Most of what I saw from Chris's interviews sounded to me like he had a pretty good influence on the game. Probably if I was in his position I wouldn't be bothered with dealing with the social media nonsense either, seemed to me he had a pretty good approach to dealing with that. I don't read the reddit thread but I see enough on the forum to know the nonsense.
