As a senior dev (+18y exp) I appreciate you sharing the details of what went wrong.

We need this kind of transparency in all industries.

Best of luck for the next deploy.
THIS is what made GGG the best Dev company by far over the last 14 years. Transparency. Almost anything is acceptable is we know the reasons why it has to be so.

Recent events had me pulling my hair out about the way things were done and I have to admit I thought our loved company was going down a slippery slope.

Extensive feedback from players regarding how the league was delayed and that an 'event' would take the place of league start seemed to be ignored and there was absolutely no word from GGG on why this was done.

poe 2 got a video from Johnathan explaining things. Coding issues causing a delay in Early Access.
Poe 1 got. A forum post telling us we had to wait a further 2 month for a league. Inexcusable. Surely a simple video explanation of why would have come across much better. It felt very disrespectful in my view to be fobbed off with a simple forum post and absolutely no word from any of the devs since about this.

Please bare this in mind in future when deciding on how to let your player base know about things. A lot of POE 1 players are feeling a bit like second class citizens at the moment after many years of dedication to the game.

Have yourselves a drink and rest those brains up a tad.

(edit) Wasn't that the record for the longest ever server downtime in 14 years? :D

For some games that is just a normal maintainance downtime lol. Go teach them how to do it GGG style

Thanks for sharing what happened and explaining some of the technical reasoning. It's fascinating and I love learning about that stuff.

At Least you guys found what went haywire. Coding can be nasty when things escape and you have to debug the 'why'.
