Incident Report for Today's Deploy

Really appreciate how transparent you guys were with this.

I've never had to transfer over a DB, but from reading some of the comments in this thread, it sounds like a nightmare.

Keep up the good stuff guys, and thanks for keeping us informed.
As a professional software developer of 10 years (+ degree), with significant involvement in DevOps (I can use Terraform, Ansible, and a few smaller tools), I can say that this is an alright mistake to happen. Not unpreventable, but it's better to take small risks than to take forever to be absolutely sure that nothing will go wrong - with perfectionism you'll get little done. I say GGG did alright here.

Have you tried creating QA department
rather than writing posts with constant apologies?

can you explain in general the decision to merge the databases of 2 different games into one. in terms of security, differentiation and fault tolerance. as well as the impact of poe2 on poe1.
am i right in understanding that any problem in the database and technical work takes BOTH games?

shared microtransactions in both games is one of the main ones, if you supported GGG and bought a supporter pack that includes a cosmetic armour, you will be able to use said cosmetics in both games on the same account

and what did you mean by that?
there was never such a condition(since 2017, only in 2024 I heard about this feature. Did I miss it?). but there was a condition that these were two different games.
well okay... you screamed like a adult male that you wanted to see cosmetics from game 1 in game 2 - for some fantastic reason... - do you think "ctrl+c ctrl+v" will help you? (and you don’t even have to do any maintenance, shift dates into the void, and apologize.)

Keep up the good work GGG.
Thanks for the explanation for the issues. Thankfully, it sounds like no data was lost and the issue is simple enough to fix. Keep up the good work!

may I ask. Isn't checking for field length, empty field, special characters, etc. included in the initial level of QA?
well, what's stopping you from creating 100 accounts with such "excessive" parameters. and trying to transfer or merge them?
on a test base. I may be wrong of course...

p.s. but what's the point of a more detailed answer if there was already a laconic one. After all, for a simple user, this does not give anything. Credit everyone with 1 coin or something =) otherwise what's the difference. Admitting that a minor error occurred is not something worthy, these are routine actions in the process of development or implementation.
In this case, it is obvious and clear that the additional downtime is not due to the Reptilian Conspiracy, but due to technical problems in the planned actions. i.e. everything is on the surface and clear

transparently and in detail..., it would be better if they told about the real reasons for the transfer of Early Access, and the delay of 3.26 to next year. =) And what planet is Chris currently resting on (my reptilian friends are asking.)
not about the fact that there are errors in development - Wow)

Peace =)
We do appreciate the transparency and the honesty.

We hope the next attempt will go smoothly.

These are tough times, but our hearts are with you!

In GGG we trust!

Why is this even necessary to report? i'd rather have clarity on why they havent given info on how to get early access to poe 2 than this. Game is launching in less than a month...

We already have the info on how to get early access, you either have to have spent a certain amount over the lifetime of your account, or will have to buy access. We don't have the cost amount on either of those but they have also already stated both will be revealed with the upcoming livestream.

And even the costs you can make a pretty educated guess at them, with past history of the 2.0 beta we could buy access with $30, so expect to spend $30-$60 for access to the game. And the lifetime cost is probably going to be around the cost of their top supporter pack so like $400. Either way we will know with the upcoming livestream which they have already told us is happening and is where they will give all these details.
