Mtx in poe2 that players didn't pay for

I read online that players were going to be able to use the mtx they bought in poe1, in poe2. I was just wondering if this includes mtx that players didn't purchase, public beta players were given a baby rhoa pet when the game launched, and I was curious if I would be able to use it in poe2?

So I may have to eat these words but I would be absolutely amazed if they still allow PoE1 MTX in Poe2

I realise that isn't an answer to your question and hopefully someone will provide the real answer but just prepare for disappointment if your hoping ^^
What good is a rf mtx.....if there is no rf in PoE 2 lol.

Pretty safe bet that most mtx, if not ALL skill mtx, will not be traveling to PoE 2.

Hideout mtx, probably. Character armors/effects/pets, possibly (with tweaks).

My guess? Certain expensive mtx MAY be re-drawn for the new game, but MOST mtx will be either auto-converted to random PoE 2 mtx, or you will be given a choice based on the price range.

But the cost of them redoing all mtx in a new game environment, while not making any additional money on them seems.....like its not going to happen.

They kind of said they would. Sort of, kinda, can't remember the exact words that were used, but there was an interview about this way back when and they answered this question. The topic stemmed from character models and the new type of rig they are using, how everything needs to be retrofitted again, and how much work that is.

They said many things about PoE 2...that have changed drastically over time. Mtx is going to be no different.

They SAID all mtx would work in PoE 2 because it was originally an extension on the same game. But its not anymore.

They have said repeatedly since announcing initially that MTX will be shared between PoE1 and 2 outside some hyper specific cases, they continue to say it on here and other places....this is something that is happening, the only thing that i'm not sure about if there will be cross platform support (i.e if i have MTX on the PC and decide to play on the ps/xbox) and atm i would say that probably isn't going to happen even if it's what they intend (the system is there it's all down to the negotiating with MS/Sony on what their cut of MTX would be and if they would loose out on anything by allowing access to PC purchases)

@OP it dose not matter if you buy the MTX, if you log into the PoE2 site, it all links back here, so if click on your name on here (next to the logged in as) and go to the character tab, pick a character then click on the micro transactions tab (running down the left) anything that is in there will be "transferred over"

Eh... you have one of those yourself and should remember that it was not "given". I paid for mine (Open Beta Supporter) and one indeed was given to me by Charan.

That said, I think it is safe to assume that these MTX will also carry over. I think it would be harder to filter bought from not bought MTX than just take them all, IF APPLICABLE, as was repeatedly stated. You won't have your Sharknado Cyclone if there is no Cyclone in PoEII

I don't think they could of been any clearer than they were, that MTX would carry over. As Someone with no MTX, I don't really care, but they made a pretty big point of saying it would be usable in both, where possible. For niche things like like OP is asking, who knows. I've read people asking about how it will work for console and other things. Probably need to wait and see. They are focused on making a good game I hope.

The intent is that any MTX that can work in PoE2, will work in PoE2. Jonathan spoke to this in one of his interviews a while back, though I can't recall which one. PoE2 is not necessarily a from-scratch new game- it was built out of PoE1's code. The two games share assets, as Jonathan put it: "Anytrhing we haven't explicitly changed in PoE2 is the same as it was in PoE1."
MTXes like pets and such which aren't tied to any skill or attached to the character should be very simple.

The problem is the console compatibility, as Grinding Gear has been encountering Issues with the console companies giving the sign-off on cross MTX. Essentially, reading between the lines because Jonathan was required to tiptoe around the issue: Sony and Microsoft are not thrilled about the idea of players being able to buy things for their PSWhatever/Xboner PoE2 account on PC instead, where Sony and Microsoft get no cut of that MTX profit. Those companies want you to have to buy your MTXes on the console in question specifically in order to use it on that console, so they can skim off the profits. Because of this, Grinding Gear may be forced to partially walk back their promise of 100% compatibility for everything everywhere and segregate MTXes into buckets. You can use PoE1 MTXes on PoE2 characters - provided those MTXes were bought on the ecosystem you're playing the character on. PSWhatever MTXes are locked to PS2Whatever, Xboner aree locked to Xboner, and so forth.

The other thing is that the second game has evolved far more than anyone expected it would when the cross compatibility promise was made. Some skills may be so fundamentally different that old MTXes for them simply don't function anymore, though I would imagine those cases should be fairly rare. In such a case, the old skins won't work.

The intent, from Jonathan's own lips, is that Grinding Gear will exert every reasonable effort to make sure you can use as much of your purchase history as you can. They will not compromise the new game for it, but they will put extra elbow grease into things such as modernizing all the MTX armor skins to work with the new character rigs - a process he said they've already largely done and are continuing to do with what armor skins remain.

They want to be as fair and generous as they can with allowing you to use your existing MTXes, but the needs of development means some of them may be forced to fall off. I feel this is eminently fair, given most companies clean-slateyou when they switch to the next game in the series and force you to abandon everything. Even just keeping all your stash tabs is gonna be a huge bonus in the new game, heh.
what about the mtx we got for free from challenges or watching their livestreams?
i think part of the cross mtx isnt only being fair tho, its the business model. they dont want 2 seperate games competing with each other where investment in mtx in one of those games is also a barrier stopping you from playing the other because you are financially invested on one side. they want poe1 players who are on the fence to try poe2, and they want to keep poe1 running so they need to maintain the financial incentive to do so. things become complicated and messy in a lot of ways if they keep the mtx seperate, if they do that the 2 games work against each other and eventually one will have to be shut down because the more resources you pour into the more successful one the more successful it will be and the more incentive there will be to put an even larger % of the resources into it.

and that sounds like it means poe1 on the trash heap but if they turn around to everyone and say hey, that $500, $1000, $2000 you put into our game doesnt carry over to poe2 how many peoples response will be "well fuck poe2 then"? if we presume poe2 is a big success then yeah its the death of poe1 to not share mtx but poe2 will get off to a really really bad start if you give 10 year vets a $1000 incentive to not switch games right from day 1.
