Need Help - Lag Spikes [MTR log]
Forgot to mention, I have frontier as well. Really bad lag outside my HO

Reported to Frontier, but they said they can't do anything unless they get additional reports.
I would guess at about 3 reports is when they can start treating it as more than random noise. | |
I have the same issue which started last night and use Frontier in southern CA. I'm calling them to leave a report.

Same thing started for me two days ago and was intermittent yesterday. Today it is unplayable, tried multiple computers and same issue. Connected via my phone wifi and issue is gone. It is definitely Frontier in SoCal! On the phone now with tech support. Will update if anything useful is found.

The heat here this week probably fried some server rooms.

Spent almost 30 minutes with tech support and they admitted they are getting a bunch of calls about this only from California. However they said there is no outages and everything looks good from their side. I asked if we are all just making this up or what, no response. Giving them until Monday then switching service, the fact they cannot see the issue on their side is a deal breaker. I switched to a VPN while on the call with support and verified ping was steady and they still said it could be something on my side. Nothing but script reading folks at these facilities.

Dollars to donuts it's a QoS problem. They are (poorly) attempting to deal with folks using 5Gbps torrenting and we are getting caught in the crossfire. VPN solving the issue is strong evidence in that direction. Different *connections* to the same instance being good or bad is additionally strong evidence.

My connection has been good for the last hour now so it looks like they may have fixed whatever issue they were having. Has anyone else noticed better latency?
*edit* nevermind...ran another map and it came back. Last edited by Zippys on Sep 7, 2024, 5:29:30 PM

It's been very inconsistent for me so it's going to be hard to tell if it gets fixed for real; my Kingsmarch has been fine for hours and sometimes if I go there and back to hideout it'll fix my hideout and I'll open a map fine but a minute in it'll get awful again.
