From what we've seen so far, do you feel you're going to stay with PoE1 or move to PoE2?

I guess low expectations are much better than overexpectations.

Not sure if that game will be for me. Gonna check it, not hyped but intredasted.

Back in the dawn of PoE, I was still a D2 fan excited about the prospects of D3. As more and more information became available about Blizzivision's new Diablo entry, the less I liked what I saw. Fortunately, the same YouTuber who I followed for D3 coverage also covered PoE.

tl;dr: I could tell pretty easily that D3 was gonna be garbage (for me, at least). ='[.]'=

I'm a new player of POE. I stopped playing as a typical newb who got frustrated playing it the first time a couple of years ago. I reached level 10 and quit. Because of the hype of POE 2, I tried POE again and this time, gathered some patience to play it through for more levels. I got hooked. I'm still learning but I am liking POE so far and will stay with it even when POE 2 comes out.

Well, maybe until I get tired of searching and dying....

GGG, I just want to play the game and not to keep searching for what to do - but I know that's your thing.

Besides, as POE 2 is so hyped that I wouldn't be surprised if the servers will not be able to handle if there will be too many players trying it out when it finally comes in November.

This sounds like me.

I played D2:LoD for several years. Close to 10, I think. Still one of my favorite games of all time, even though I couldn't really get into the remake. Sometimes it's just best to let nostalgia be nostalgia. So damn hyped for D3, but I really disliked how it turned out. Not even close to D2 in any way, sadly (for me).

And are you talking about Kripp? I followed his D3 streams back then, his world first (only?) kill in D3 (pre-nerf). Still, D3 was not for me. He went over to PoE, I tried it out, found out it had/has the character customization, itemization and complexity D3 lacked, and the rest is history.

----

I will of course give PoE 2 a fair chance. I'll try it, I'll probably sink a fair amount of hours into it to really learn it. But there's not much in the terms of teasers, trailers and news that have made me "hyped". More the opposite. And just like D3; I'm sure PoE 2 will be a success, but I don't think it will be a game for me, at least as long as PoE 1 exists.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Hard to answer what game catches people before PoE2 is actually live.

My thoughts so far comparing both games:

PoE1:
- incredible amount of customization in regards to builds
- always fun on leaguestart, starting fresh and experiencing new mechanics
- fun to get into new strats to farm every single league, setting your own goals

PoE2:
- New weapon types - Spears, Crossbows. I for one are especially hyped for spears
- Based on what has been said far more agency when it comes to fights, more skill required, movement-attack-skills is a cool idea
- slower, more reactive and skill-based boss battles
- new classes

So to sum that up PoE2 is for me the new shiny thing which has to be experienced in the first place, but PoE1 is THAT good that you can simply go back to it whenever. I can indeed see a future where both of them exist next to each other, especially given the lack of competition.
Just POE2 most likely.

Well i was interested but more in stroy than game. Actual game was and still is dissapointment and i had to force myself into finishing campain and it was after release first set expantion.

Same is here so far - interested but not hyped. Will give it fair chance and then i will make a decision.
yeah ill be deff playing poe 2 instead .. i been here since the early days in 2013 and i have to say that i will deff be converting to poe 2 cause poe 1 has turned into card flipping crafting and hideout warriors its not the same any more like the days when we used to actually farm maps for currency back in the day you got a mirror of kalandra to drop and you literally went out and got a lottery ticket now all ya have to do is spen a few divines flip over a few cards via harvest and you can have all the mirrors you want what ever happened to ACTUALLY MAPPING ill never know i want to feel as if i actually earned the currency on the battle feild not park in hideouts duping currency
I was still a massive PoE noob before this league (slightly less noob now). Having only started in Ancestor league, but only playing endgame and doing challenges now in Kalguur.

The entire time before this league I was sure I would never touch PoE again when PoE 2 launches. Now after playing 'properly' this league, I think I will actually play both.

I do believe PoE 2 will be the far superior game in almost every way. However, PoE provides a niche experience that I do enjoy. I think the biggest factor for me deciding to play a PoE league in future will be the challenge rewards. As I don't see myself having the time to play leagues to 36/38 challenges in both games.

Another factor pushing me to PoE 2 is the opportunity to start playing from the very beginning. This means starting a SSF group of characters that I will use as a PoE 2 lifetime SSF playthrough. Collecting all uniques, spectres, killing all bosses, reaching lvl 100, hoarding legacy items etc.

Back to PoE, one of the biggest reasons I will keep playing is that MTX is shared. I bought my first non-stash MTX this league and the only reason is because I expect most of it will be available in PoE 2.

I also use to not care at all what happened to PoE development, but now I hope they can keep up the quality for both games.

I do think that I probably won't have time to touch PoE for a while after PoE 2 EA and 1.0 launches though.

Based on what? I've seen people mention this several times before, yet none of y'all who say this have actually played the game yet.

Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem looked really good. Vikings - Wolves of Midgard looked really good. Diablo 4 looked really good. No Rest for the Wicked looked really good. Lost Ark looked really good.

Yet... when you actually got into the games and played for a while, it all became stale as bread. Like, all the trailers, UI elements, the polish all looked insane. And yet it was all hot air.

This whole thing actually reminds me so very much of Biomutant (slightly different genre). Man, was I excited for that game. And man, was it flawed like the rest of them. The gunplay looked good, the melee combat looked good, the world and story building looked good, narration seemed lively and witty and so on... it all looked flashy and hype as hell. And everybody was talking about this game.

Here's a reality check:

The gunplay was OP, like, there was no reason to ever engage in melee. Same applied to enemies.

The balance was completely wack; I was completely immune to a damage type (Biohazard) by level 8 and was exploring every "dungeon" without issues by then. Meaning, it took me like ~2-3 hours of gameplay to explore every "locked off" area with ease, and only because I was new to the game did it take me longer than necessary.

It took me ~7 hours to find my first shotgun base (the weapon I actually wanted to play with from the start). And where did I find it? In a pile of rubble in some random cave. No vendor sold one, no enemy dropped one. It was bizarre. And I clocked a total of 9.5 hours before I quit, by the way.

Melee combat was god awful, with terrible dodge mechanics and parrying system. Like, you can't even see it in any gameplay videos or describe it properly, but combat flow and "feel" was way off. All the flashy combo videos you could find online were practically meaningless.

The world was empty as hell and also plagued with performance issues after the tutorial area.

Narration got annoying and obnoxious, to the point where I wanted to turn it off completely.

I played on the highest difficulty, by the way, and the game was still far too easy, and yet in some ways far too difficult. Terrible boss indicators with one-shot abilities that were not adequately communicated and thus resulted in a lot of frustration. Broken boss fights were some would just instantly heal back to full and so on.

Cutscenes were so bad, it was almost comical; like, amateurish with no sense of direction at all.

The point being, what they sold us in trailers and media coverage did not reflect reality. I pre-ordered that stupid game and it disappointed me so hard it was the last game I would ever pre-order since. I didn't even pre-order Shadow of the Erdtree, despite me having had roughly 800 hours in Elden Ring at the time.

So, yeah... I'm a little weary when it comes to PoE 2. GGG is really good at presentation, but also good at hiding and obscuring things, sometimes even omitting them straight up, so excuse me for not viewing them as the same company they were a decade ago.

I'm hella skeptical and I will remain so until I can actually get my hands on it. Anything they try to sell me beforehand will just fall on deaf ears and blind eyes because their words to me are mostly meaningless after their own "actions speak louder than words" mantra proved to be bullshit overall.

If PoE 2 has no CWDT builds, I will quit for good.
