Quitting the league :/
I find myself in a difficult position, and I hope my concerns do not come across as whiny complaints.
Allow me to provide some context. I work approximately 9-10 hours each day. When I return home, I am occupied with preparing dinner, cleaning, and attending to other daily responsibilities. After completing these tasks, I typically have about three hours in the evening to spend in front of the computer, assuming I'm lucky. I have progressed to the endgame, having defeated all the bosses and completed Tier 17 maps. I have not yet attempted "uber bossing," I have been looking forward to doing activities like delving, heist, and, most importantly, sanctums. However, I am encountering significant frustration with the gold grind associated with the Kingsmarch mechanic, which is currently in a rather poor state. It is nearly impossible to meet the gold demands of Kingsmarch, and while I understand that I could simply avoid the league mechanic, it is the new feature, and naturally, I am eager to engage with it. At its core, Kingsmarch feels akin to a "Daily Login Reward" mobile game, where one must log in each day to claim a reward, except in this case, you must grind out the gold. I find this approach highly dissatisfying. At the endgame, it seems reasonable that completing a single map should yield enough gold to sustain all workers for 2-3 hours, regardless of their tiers. We were led to believe that Kingsmarch would function as an "Idle Mechanic," but it is anything but idle, given the relentless daily gold grind. Additionally, we were assured that there would be an abundance of gold available upon reaching the endgame and playing casually. Regrettably, this has not been the case. My current "Game Day" consists of spending an hour leveling a new character for Sanctum and another 1-2 hours grinding gold for the so-called "idle" portion of the game. I apologize if this seems like a "Cry Thread". I only wish I had more hours in the day to fully enjoy the game without feeling burdened by 1 mechanic not allowing you to do other mechanics. Definitely take a break if you aren't having fun. It's just a game.
If you don't mind, though, I'd like to know more about this: " When were "we" led to believe this, exactly? Who assured us that there would be an abundance of gold for even casual players? Because I watched the league reveal and the entire Q & A, and I never got anything close to these impressions. If me and my friends had got these impressions we would have skipped the league entirely so I've got to say that I strongly disagree with your use of "regrettably" here. I have exactly zero interest in playing any game where the optimal farming strategy is to make 10 additional accounts and just idle my way to a mageblood. |

To answer your question.
Q: "When were "we" led to believe this, exactly? Who assured us that there would be an abundance of gold for even casual players? Because I watched the league reveal and the entire Q & A" A: We were given many teaser videos before the league started. In which one of the videos used the word "abundance" aswell as showing their kingsmarch with millions of gold. I'm however having a hard time finding this teaser video again, but I assure you it was teased this way, other people finding this post may confirm, and they might also hopefully provide the video. As far as this sentence goes "I have exactly zero interest in playing any game where the optimal farming strategy is to make 10 additional accounts and just idle my way to a mageblood." A: I've not even considered this could happen, so I do understand your concerns. However in the current state, the mechanic takes too much away from the rest of the game for casual players meaning they either have to focus on this one game mechanic and scrap everything else, or scrap this mechanic in its entirety apart from currency exchange. scale this strat down to suite your budget and you'll have no problems with gold |
|
my guy, I have 2 kids and a wife, a job, etc, I can play in the evenings and sometimes in the early morning after driving my kid to the daycare... play 2-3hs a day, more on weekends, started league almost a week later, got 2 MB's and HH, the league is extremely rewarding, no need to complain, gold is in abundance in maps, just like they said, if I go into 8-mod farming session, I easily get 15-18k gold per map, I spent 2-3min in a map, I easily get like ~300k gold in an hour, which is enough for keeping kingsmarch goin for over 24hs
and besides you don't have to run mappers, to make serious currency with kingsmarch you only need high level farmers and shippers, the rest can be lower level to consume less gold 3.23 was the best league of all time (an absolute banger)

I too play only 2-3h per day, and can somewhat agree that I'm not accumulating the gold super quickly though I can't really say I'm focusing on getting 'rich'. Between going full ham with your town and ignoring the new mechanic completely, you could try finding a healthy middle ground - cut some expenses down, turn something off.
For example, I already have 200k dust from disenchanting, but am only sending like 200 per shipment otherwise the risk increases greatly. I also don't currently need some crops that I already have 30k. If I'm about to end my gaming session and have only enough gold for shipping, I'll just turn the rest of the town operations off. These are just some of ideas. Basically play with what you have and don't go crazy about not being able to squeeze out the max. Alternative is to look for some efficient gold farming strategies if you are that committed to your settlement. |

" just curious, what strat did you do for 2-3 hours a day that gives you 2 MB and a HH? is it t17 maps? |
|
Just hire lvl 5-6 dudes with no extra profession/low wage. Some of them are dirt cheap. You can't run hight tier maps that way but you can still do shipments for grain and maybe mid tier yellow maps and you only need like 3-4 random t16 maps for 24 h uptime..At lvl 7 it starts to get expensive.
