How so? We haven't seen the numbers on the Retaliation skills yet. Given the way they work, I imagine the base numbers are going to be quite thoroughly chonk to reward players for engaging with the system.
Retaliation skills will be useless for automating stuff like Fortify, yeah. That's a loss. But we have no idea whether the Retaliation skills will be opening up entirely new avenues of play. If they hit hard enough, they could turn investment into defense via block chance into offense via smashing whatever you blocked in the face with a heavy-duty punish skill. I could see them really benefitting from the Influence mods that add extra supports, or possibly being a new high-value target for Hungry Loop now that Ancestral totems are kiboshed. |
