As for lore breaking, meh. Wait til you see the new hardcover. I am not a stickler for details when it comes to art. "Draw in your own style" is the best way to get people to do their best work imo.

And your interpretation of OG is too good -- you have assumed it looks like a properly made sword. The tsuba is actually kinda dumb in the books.

My GF pointed out that you've actually tapped an ukiyo-e style by possibly my favourite Japanese artist and engraver, Utagawa Kuniyoshi. This is a t-shirt I have and wear a lot:



So whether that's by coincidence or on purpose, really cool stuff.

Thanks, Good eyes ! I did search for some traditional Japanese illustrations and found some artists like Toyokuni III/Kunisada and Ueno Tadamasa.
I wanted to use the watercolor simulation from Rebelle program.


I ll send you the original file by mail with another one. It s pretty big tho, like 7 meg. My old ass keep drawing at 300dpi... old habits from printing.

Made my day to be honest. I've seen some of their Oni Goroshi fanart before (a Ranger riding a Rhoa wielding the in-game OG from memory) and was like that's cool, but...I had no idea they'd taken a look at the book. And to tap one of my favourite Japanese art styles without even knowing it...wow.

So there was some...friction about the special cover in the writing group I use on Facebook. Someone was right to point out that the cover title and author name are way too small for a normal book, but they did it really rudely ('you got ripped off', basically) so I just deleted it from the group rather than waste time explaining it's a collector's edition i.e. it's for the fans who WILL get it. And plenty of people who haven't read the book are very intrigued by the design choices. Blackcloak is not a normal book, and doesn't need a normal cover.

I have figured out why Oni-Goroshi in PoE hates Piety so much. Why Piety is the only entity in all of Wraeclast to genuinely earn her emotional investment.

No one likes to see their younger, dumber self in others.
