Are you a fan of the sword Oni-Goroshi? -- 01/10/24: wow, a Blackloak-inspired essay!

Popped this post about my thoughts on PoE2 in General D but they buried in an obscure feedback subsubsubforum.

Meanwhile plenty of people talking in there about it. Still.

Dunno, friends. Starting to get the feeling Support don't love me anymore. :(

https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.
In response, I am enjoying PoE2.
Like, a lot.
It is a good pace and is very visually satisfying.
The music is on point (as always).
Told co-worker about it and he bought into EA and played it all weekend.

~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.
As someone who has been hammering Elden Ring for months now, I can say with utter confidence the only meaningful connection it has to PoE2 is they're both fuckoff hard and fuckoff compelling.

The rest is superficial at best, mostly specious. I don't dodge roll anywhere near this much in Elden Ring. You also never face hordes the same way. Sure, shit hits harder now but you can still handily off wntire groups with a few simple skill usages. That isn't a Souls feature without a lot of preplanning.

This is definitely still an ARPG.

Oddly no one's talking about No Rest For The Wicked, which seems to be much more a deliberate attempt at isometric Souls.

Maybe they are just inundated? Usually, I get a response the same or next day on any emailed questions, but still have one pending response from Dec 4th.

Do you fully plot out your novels before writing them, or rough plot and let the dialogue and scenes fill themselves in as you write?

Hope they are putting your sword in PoE 2 before the full release. I can't imagine how they will handle the socket/linking aspect of it. I almost tried to farm it for my first character, but I didn't want to risk getting dropped into a long queue each time I swapped characters to make another run.

I think I may have the Elon Musk of the Twilight Strand. Just need a Meginord's Girdle for her. She still hasn't found Oni-Goroshi though.

Whether they are swamped or not is sort of irrelevant to them *immediately* burying any post I make about PoE2 in an obscure forum. The fact that it's one line means they didn't even look at it. I am 100% on a watch list. Which is fine. Nice to be remembered.

I do a mix. I have word docs with basic plot point ideas for most of my planned work, just to give myself some mini goals along the way. Not that many of them survive to the final version but this is true of a typical holiday itinerary too. Make a plan just to have a plan. Makes it easier to get started. Be flexible once you're out there. Be open to wonder and surprise. The only things more set in stone are the beginning and end, because I get serious jitters about the travel part of travelling.

No Oni Goroshi in Poe 2. PoE1 was a scrappy work full of amateur moves like player designed content. Even if OG was some sort of highlight, still unprofessional. PoE2 is 100% professional and I suspect they won't need to sell their integrity to fund this one.

The thought of the Elongated Muskovite using OG is quite amusing. She'd do a real number on that ego.

As you damn well should be. It's really good.

But as I sit here reading the next book for my Wednesday Review, I confess I keep looking at my ps5 controller lovingly and wondering if i couldn't just do a little more Act 1 with one of my ten Exiles. Finally tried the crossbow/twin stick style and oh damn does it make melee feel last gen...
