How does evasion work with block?
" You aren't going to get anywhere near 70% evasion rating, talk less of 70% evasion AND 75% block. You also cannot stack evasion AND life, you have to choose one. Life is obviously better in the current game. My opinion from someone who actually uses evasion? Get around 40% evasion and over 50% block chance. This is assuming that you want to use evasion as your defense. If not i would have recommended Iron reflexes + endurance charges + block chance. Truthfully 40% evasion is negligible. heck 50% is negligible in the game's current evasion system, but you want to use evasion and block chance so go right ahead. You will also need tons of life. See the problem? You want to stack evasion + life + block chance. 3 impossible combinations to stack and have a viable endgame character. I'm giving you feedback based on endgame mapping experience with an evasion character with 50% evasion so you don't pour hours and currency into planning and building this character only to get to maps and see all your efforts wasted. The character you have in mind (really high evasion + really high block chance) should be able to work if mechanics in the game were tweaked, but in the current game? No. Last edited by SoujiroSeta#2390 on Apr 22, 2013, 3:12:03 PM

It'd actually be entirely possible to evade/block/evade/block/evade/block if this works the way you're suggesting.
I don't actually recall the actual order of operation and whether that order accounts for how entropy could respond. But I think it's not quite so simple as evade->dodge->block, with entropy incrementing on every to-hit roll. Somehow I think a successful block or dodge will keep entropy from incrementing. But I don't actually know. Let a man walk alone -

true I do not know how high evasion I can get, but if its not diminished by a huge amount in the up coming 40 levels then it shouldnt be impossible.
This is the build I'm gonna go for With this build I have a decent amount of hp, I'm decently sure I can get really high evasion aswell. Considering right now I have around 50% evasion and I dont even have the 50% evasion nodes towards the middle and I dont have grace yet. With this build I also get 22% block chance, and if I keep using the crest of perandus or whatever its called(40% block chance unique) then I have 62% block. And I'm considering using tempest shield to get another 4%, but that would be a luxury. I also get 230% inc life, which might not be as high as you would want it but its still pretty decent. I'll also use the stone of Lazhwar which means I get 31% block chance to spells as a support for the phase acrobatics. I'm not sure if it will work in maps, but I guess I'll see. Its always in the last place you look

" i'm using a 75% chance to block attack and spells build, but i use no evasion because i want to get hit in order for molten shell and tempest shield to proc. Edit:Since you don't use armor,i suggest you use a rathpith globe instead of perandus, the energy shield it gives you will be boosted a lot by the shield defense nodes, and your chance to block spells will increase greatly Last edited by AusterlitZ#2982 on Apr 23, 2013, 4:23:53 AM

" Does this provide any sort of advantage in terms of synergy? I'm wondering what the math looks like. Like, if evasion were entirely random, 50% evade and 75% block would just be .5 x .25 = you get hit (on average) 12.5% of the time. Does that change given that you're guaranteed an evade after a block? IGN: Iolar Last edited by BRavich#4397 on Apr 23, 2013, 9:43:23 AM

Looking at it again, it doesnt seem like there's any synergy. you evade 50% of attacks, and you block 75% of those that you dont evade. In order for it to have that kind of synergy, block would need to be calculated first.
When does dodge come into play? Before or after evasion, and is it considered non-evasion? IGN: Iolar
