" He got a powerful elemental shot thats a fact You wrote "he's got 17k armor + fortify + cap on res" But he doesn't have 100% spell suppression and 75% res without cap spell suppression is nothing Additionally, he only has 271 life regeneration for powerful elemental dmg it's nothing He could defeat this boss quickly if he had enough damage, but he doesn't have that either, he still needs to work a lot on his character and that's it. |

I believe there are two answers to your question OP:
1. One thing that GGG are absolute masters of is data analytics. This game is a data gold mine and using all the existing gaming addiction theory, they know exactly how to apply all the visuals, all the sounds, all the reward mechanics and all the delays to literally keep players addicted. PoE is simply a giant slot machine simulator, and like any good casino, they know how to best keep you engaged to eventually make money from you. There will be players that don't spend money with GGG and the old adage then applies - if it's free, you are the product. In this application, free players still feed the machine via trade. They are the grease that allows streamers, TFT market manipulators, et al, to acquire masses of wealth, who then advertise the game and feed new player grist into the mill. 2. The game used to amazing, many years gone now and us old timers have fond memories, tinged by nostalgia (we certainly conveniently forget desync, instant death from drop bears and devourers and so on). At one stage the game was reasonably well balanced and the distance between playable and god-like was not so massive. Subsequently though GGG continue to push the top end, bungle balances and in order to try and provide some challenge to the top end, trample over everyone else (Arch-Nemesis is the prime example here - it was barely a speedbump to the top end who decried the poor plebs that weren't overpowered for it, and it destroyed the lower grade of player who weren't in a position to gear for it). You can see the consequences in this thread where the recommendation is to stack several interlocking, near impossible methods of defence and there will still be gaps that will get you killed because the slot machine decided your number was up. God-like is still possible, but the investment is enormous for most average players and the intent is to keep that carrot at the end of the stick, keep you grinding rather than enjoying. You've literally hit the nail on the head - you've been exposed to an addictive substance that continues to trigger a chemical response in your brain with the deliberate intent to keep you coming back. Be aware of this and treat it as such, whether that be abstinence with withdrawal, limiting exposure to an acceptable level, or some other treatment that works for you. Good luck, you're not alone! |

I agree, the game used to be better balanced "You can see the consequences in this thread where the recommendation is to stack several interlocking, near impossible methods of defence and there will still be gaps that will get you killed because the slot machine decided your number was up. Here I don't know if you are right or wrong, you have this opinion and I understand, I just wanted to help this player, why did he die, that's all |

Addiction.
Only reason why you still play.
The two mana flasks you have will surely make your life easier ;)
But seriously , get some useful utility flasks, capped spell suppress and more life. Masterpiece of 3.16 lore "A mysterious figure appears out of nowhere, trying to escape from something you can't see. She hands you a rusty-looking device called the Blood Crucible and urges you to implant it into your body." Only usable with Ethanol Flasks Last edited by gandhar0 on Dec 19, 2023, 7:28:27 PM

Poeple defending this shit need a real reality check. Yesterday i had 4 essence mob with blue and yelow juice in t8 magic map that i just couldnt kill. It was just impossible. Granted my character is far from being good yet but i cleared my whole atlas and got 2 voidstones. The simple fact that a mob in t8 map kicked my ass when i cleared t16 corrupted vaal temple should be proof enough how retarded those buffs are. They are also not static. In the same map a mob can be buffed by 10% and 500% and you just cant tell before fighting it. Its stupid no matter how you look at it.

To answer the main question, because you enjoy the dopamine hit more than the temporary frustration.
Broader question - is it really that bad to die occasionally or have an unkillable mob? Does that make the game not fun? It makes HC terrible to play, sure, but the complaints here are mostly SC, so... why is that so bad? Just curious, not arguing any specific thing.
> vivid empowered
> primal empowered you could, I don't know, stop juicing if you can't handle it? |

" I run yelow maps exactly to not have this issue. It also bricks other mechanics like blight, essence, ritual etc. On top of that i lost max hp specter and AG to 1 mofo in t8. " No, i cant. I have no option to exclude certain things from being empowered. The only option would be to ignore league completly but thats just running away from clear problem. Mobs in magic t8 map shouldnt be in any way stronger than in corrupted t16. The entire point of running lower level maps is to not have such issues. |
