Campaign maps are 1.5x-2.5x bigger, with more cul-de-sac's?

I've been feeling like my rush through campaign is way slower compared to previous leagues - some maps (Lunaris and Solaris temple for example) being more than twice the size of what I remembered?

Also way more dead ends introduced. Anybody feel these changes, or is it just me?

Is it just to extend gameplay hours for regular players going through the motions in the campaign? If yes, kinda sad man.

Its the same, People still reach maps in ~4h.
Learning the layouts takes practice.

I've played the campaign enough times to know all the layouts to the point of recognizing the smallest change if they ever make one.

I'm assuming you're not doing the league mechanic, so maybe you're playing a slower build, maybe not enough movement speed, but you're probably just not remembering correctly.
It was the complete opposite for me. I had absolute god tier layouts this time around which I'm not used to at all.

It's just RNG and sometimes it swings extra hard.
The only recent change to the campaign was GGG finally adding character voice lines for chapters 5-10.

they have definitely made some maps larger and added more dead end. thats a fact. however this wasnt done this patch but at some point in the past.

Where did you pull that fact from? I could make a guess, but that'd prolly be against ToS

I think they change it up every league. I run the campaign over and over and soon as they put out the end of league patch I start getting some very strange variations. I think the layouts people talk about are more or less how Lab works. You can just count on the direction and general location. But I've found maps that don't match any layout but the general locations are still the same. So I've come to the conclusion that the walls are generated randomly, but the locations remain the the same.
Not sure about campaign maps but when I went to Grotto map yesterday and seen its layout... dear god they butchered i so ahrd. It used to be very good map with simple "circle" layout and they turned it into some abomination.
