How to fix melee builds
" THe past is few leagues ago. I league started as Perforate Slayer during Lake of Kalanda when we still had rippy af AN rares. I also league started as bleed lacerate during Sanctum. I was considering starting as Volanic Fissure this league but its been a while since I played mines so went with those instead. Starting as left side of the tree makes you way more tanky early on, and thats what you usually lack at the start. You realized how everyone who was complaining about league being ripppy af was playing Ranger? Last edited by Aynix on Dec 13, 2023, 9:11:49 AM

" Because it is easier, not faster but easier. Left side of the tree and ascendencies there are tankier. Im also against buffs for melee. It doesnt need them, what melee needs is easier access to tools it already has and more streamlined gear progression.
" Personally, I would call that a buff to melee. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

What melee needs is early, "budget" version of things like BLS, Voidforge, Paradoxica, Saviour etc. Items thet would allow players to scale their damage in a way they will scale it in end game, and once they reach the point where they are able to buy those "big items" they will just switch to better, more expensive tools.
Melee has a lot of things they can use in end gma,e they can easily scale their DMG to infinite but you will need a lot of currency for it, thats why most people dont touch it as league starter (I ignore fact that melee will always be slower than Bow builds and just that will make them way less popular)
I only play melee and have since 2014. I usually start any league with cleave for its clearing and may add HS until I get boneshatter. I'm an average player. Good weapons are very expensive. I'd like to see damage scale with character leveling. I'd like to see damage increase over time with using the same weapon. Maybe the kill count on a weapon could move the needle on attack speed and weapon effectiveness. Get a payoff for using a the same weapon over time.
Melee exclusive benefits More damage More attack speed More AOE Better/easier crafting of higher dps swords, axes and daggers Bonuses for being up close And yes, ways to defend against spells. "Gratitude is wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk." Rumi

How to fix melee builds:
Step 1: Get GGG to care. Good luck with that one, it's been 10 years and counting. |
|
all melee needs is some default additional strike range on strikes and better supports for slams, not much needed tbh

" go watch alkaizer's stream and his build and tell me melee isn't alive melee is in a great state atm and insanely fun enjoy it while it lasts "Path of Exile's engine is currently modern, lean and fast." - Chris Wilson, September 19th, 2019 "It looks like we broke something with 3.10.0. " Melle was insanely fun for years now. But only if you have currency for those "cool" tools that scale your DMG to oblivion. For most veterans getting Voidforge and scaling it via added phys DMG wont be a problem, or getting 1.5-2k STR with BLS, but for most casuals it will be wall they cannot breach.
" true. but i've got to red maps with just a shitty 3-5c 2h axe so far. so much more room to grow with this build too, especially in the context of crafting an insane 2 hander. that's assuming they go the crafting route and not voidforge lol "Path of Exile's engine is currently modern, lean and fast." - Chris Wilson, September 19th, 2019 "It looks like we broke something with 3.10.0.
