Extremely disapointing melee offerings.... as is tradition
Almost every Minion base skill has three variations
The vast majority of Spells have THREE VARATIONS almost no Melee skills have three... (I think 3 melee skills got a 3rd variant). and most of the melee offerings are really uninspired, conservatively Balanced and mechanically uninteresting. Wildstrike looks nice, and I guess Lacerate does bleeds a little better than it used to so is now compeative with Melee bleed, which does a tiny fraction of the damage of Bow bleed. Bleed maybe does 3% or 5% of the damage of typical spell dots so still trash and not worth giving up a nice safe easy to scale spell. GGG ignoring melee ... classic You guys ever considered hiring someone that specializes in the playstyle? Pretty sure Quin69 would design good melee stuff and he has a cuckshed he needs to pay for. (his ideas would at least be hipster and interesting)... maybe hire him, or bring him in as a consultant since its apparently the case that there's little to no zest or excitement over there for the playstyle. GGG hates melee. That patch proves it again.
Casters, Summoners, Brands, Trapers, Miners, Bows, Poison. Everything is eating good. Melee Skills doesn´t matter if Elemental or Phys are all uninteresting. Boneshatter is still king. The only really interesting Melee Skill (Wildstrike) got a stupid downside as if there aren´t at least 10 trans gems that are gonna be way more broken without downsides for other archetypes lol At least Smite is a bit buffed and Boneshatter with complex trauma is also better than the standard version with low and mid gear. i m all aboard the GGG hates melee train,

I could be wrong but I think page 4 was the last batch of gems. That said they would literally need to push out 30 odd Melee variants on the last day before the start to even get to HALF as many as spell and minion skills got.

Some of the melee skills look good, even great.
Though admittedly, that wildstrike casting cost shows that GGG really doesn't like melee skills/considers them hardmode. Like, you wanna do good damage? With spell or a projectile, here you go. Melee in PoE reminds me of the good old days in d2 when a moderately geared blizz sorc could clear baal runs 10x faster than a fully loaded melee barb with breath of the dying sword/axe.
I guess all ARPG devs are afraid of melee power. |

Ben was talking about the new Lacerate of Hemorrhaging today, and he said Boneshatter of Complex Trauma blows it out of the water if you set it up to keep your stacks at 9. Well, sorry but who exactly can keep stacks at 9 when you lose all stacks at 10? No to mention that Melee cost 50 X more than casters to gear, and have 3 X more active buttons to press. Just look at that Rage Vortex. It takes no effort at all to tell the reason people don't play it is due to Rage Vortex only being allowed to have a single Vortex at a time. Melee always have sever negatives while casters do not. It's so freaking full of Sh...t. You can have an entire screen full of spark or what ever spell you want. Your entire screen can be wall to wall Fire Storm. But a melee be allowed to have more than a Single Rage Vortex, well HELL NO!!!! Just think about how insainly imbalanced this. Nearly 3 variatoins of every caster skill to frankly very lack luster melee. Accept for Boneshatter.... Boneshatter is the only melee skilled allowed to be good. Boneshatter has to be the very best melee skill for any kind of damage any melee can have. Freaking absurd. |

There is only so much they can do with melee attacks. Also les be real, unless new gem would have like 500% more DMG you guys wouldnt play them anyway.
