So was this not a NERF over All?

not a nerf
the skill enchantments are now more deterministic
those lab runners and parties got hurt though, but who cares about them right?
some builds got nerfed, some got buffed

overall it won't matter because we'll have a lot of new builds

My Mates Doom and gloom over this believes it a massive NERF.

Loss of enchantments Helm, Boots and gloves.
Loss of quality on Gems for replacement of lesser Enchantments from lab.
Alterative gems GONE.
Mana Res way less now and ashes of star killed.

Having to wait om GMP's

Tried to tell him there more ascendency points and new Gems but how do i explain it.

Tell your friends to learn to read honestly. Loss of quality and nerf to ashes? What? Quality was buffed on most gems, some of them massively. Arc for example is +1-2 chains from quality, which is 30% more damage single target. Bladefall as another example is +1-2 volleys from quality. These beat the pants off alternative quality. Then transfigured gems are mostly meant to be more upgrades. The small change to reservation efficiency on ashes doesn't compare to the massive bonuses of quality it now provides. One of the new lab rewards also adds quality to gems, getting your main skills to 20% will probably be even easier than before.

an extra chain on arc isn't exactly 15% more damage. that more damage per chain multiplier is additive with the gem's own 15% more damage multiplier.

and we already had a helmet enchant that gave +1 chain anyway. we lost the extra chain from the helmet enchant, lost the shock effect, lost chaining range from anomalous quality.

this isn't really a buff

and transfigured gems aren't meant to be "upgrades" to the original gems. they just introduce different ways to play with the skill. by no means they're stronger or weaker, they're just completely different skills

It's interesting to see that they more or less buffed META skills like Lightning Arrow and Tornado Shot, while gutted Cyclone's AoE.

I like to understand things. This, I do not understand and it bothers me.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Maybe they just look at the death counts and don't really play that much themselve...

Legolas"TasteofHateNotThatGood"CTJuicer: 1337 deaths, lvl 100

CarnFanboyBonezoneSlayerBetterThanJugg: 13 Deaths, lvl 100

=> melee op, TS needs some help
Some of the builds I use got nerfed... sooooo just might figure out a new build to play this upcoming league. Probably something tanky

Something tells me that Legolas' death count was intentional :)
Ashes nerf was maybe based on the charms we can get, as the hiero has it as an ascendancy. (MRE)
Nope, Ashes nerf was because they changed quality of gems to be way stronger. Because of that Ashes becomes much stronger amulet than it was. So it needed nerf.

An "additive" more modifier is still miles above normal additive increased damage. Also it's +1 chain at 20% quality, with enhance and ashes you could likely hit +3 chains. It's a pretty dang huge buff.

You keep saying that about transfigured gems but this was directly addressed in the QA and answered by Mark. Transfigured gems are meant to be upgrades with added complexity. They are more niche in most cases but allow you to get more overall out of them if you build around that niche.
Phrazz are we sure they didn't just bake the radius in? My feeling was that stages were just removed and it got set to the final stage by default to remove the unnecessary windup time it had.

I gotta say I wouldn't put it past them to nerf cyclone but my expectation is that its slightly buffed (10% radius per instead of 8 and slightly faster)
