Constant Crashing (Failed to decompress - corrupted data)
Hi there!
I am having a large amount of game crashes at random points in time when playing PoE. No matter if it's as I start the game with an insant crash and this error, to playing for several hours uninterrupted and then all of a sudden a crash hits. This has been extremely frustrating as I've lost loads of expensive maps, drops in maps and time wasted trying to fix this myself. This issue seems to happen most commonly when switching zones, different maps, different hideouts, etc. I have tried almost every fix known to man on this issue and have still come up dry. I've researched several fixes which didn't work for me but I will post an extensive list of everything I have tried and maybe this works for you and brings attention to the devs as I think this issue has no fix and is a issue with the update to the render engine which has caused these issues. PC Specs: Intel i9 13900K ASUS Z970-E RTX 3090 32GB RAM 2TB 990 Pro Fix attempts: Verify integrity of game files (Steam) Updated Nvidia drivers to 537.13 Downgraded back a driver version Downgraded back several driver versions to 536.99 Updated Path of Exile patch when it landed Updated Windows (11) Updated to the latest Runtime and .NET framework Updated BIOS to latest version (0904) Uninstalled Path of Exile Traced all files relating to PoE in %AppData% and Documents, removing it all Reinstalling a fresh copy Completely reformatted and wiped my machine and started from scratch Unparking all cores. Disabling Performance cores. Creating a new power plan and lowering maximum processor state to 99% Running in compatibilty mode for Windows 8/7 Running as Adminsitrator Thought it might be my drive, uninstalled again and reinstalled on a new different M.2 drive (Samsung EVO Plus 1TB 970) When able to get in game I tried playing with settings such as: Dropping all GFX to lowest settings, tinkering with different variations of everything Disabling Engine multithreading Dropping resolution all the way down to 800x600 Vsync on/off Using DirectX11 Using DirectX12 Using Vulkan Disabling all MTX's in-game Uninstalled all again, and tried playing on the Epic Launcher Trying with and without Awakened PoE Trying with and without POB Community Uninstalling and reinstalling both Awakened and POB Removing all Item Filters Creating new Item Filter Playing the (X86) version (X86) version in Compatibility mode with Windows 8/7 Killing every application and only using Steam + PoE Will update with more things I've tried and find out as I go. Even after all this I am still facing this issue and have seen quite a few people mentioning it with no sturdy answers to resolve. It seems a lot of people with 12900K,12700K,13900K and 12700K CPU's seem to be having this issue and guys with 3090/4090 GFX cards. I don't know what the answer is and would really like a fix asap so I can start properly playing the game. Thank you. Thanks OP, this is the most comprehensive post related to this issue many of us are facing with all the included tests and situations in one location, bumping this post in hopes a dev can take a look into this ASAP and provide and update soon as this is the main issue ruining my league so far

I'm personally also crashing 24/7 at completely random moments, but I don't get any errors. Just closing to desktop. I'm on Windows 10 with a much older system (old i7 quad core and GTX 1070). Just like you I have been trying everything imaginable to fix it and it all failed. I uninstalled the game yesterday and don't plan on playing this league anymore, unless there will be a patch. But there won't be. GGG has a skeleton crew working on PoE1 so good luck getting them to even read your complaints let alone getting it fixed. People who are crashing are screwed for the remainder of the league.
This was the patch that began the nightmare that people are experiencing: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3406424 Every since that piece of garbage went live people have been crashing, lagging and having all sorts of issues. vaal or no balls Last edited by QueenTakesKnight on Aug 26, 2023, 4:02:01 PM

Well, GGG cares about player numbers, I give them the only feedback, that I can. I will check it next league.

" Yeah man, hopefully this brings enough attention and people can respond with different things they've tried and hopefully someone can find a fix or devs pick this up and can see what we've tried etc. | |
Im having the same problems game is unplayable for now.Even tried windows reinstal i got the same crashes every few minutes i hope they fix it if not thats it for me cant play the game

Yo I really like this post and I had the problem for the majority of this league so I'll bump. Unlike most people who seemed to have the problem, I have a i5-11400 and a RTX 3060. Did almost all of the solutions you listed above, but the only solution that worked for me was lowering the max power plan to 99%. Make sure to double check min power plan isn't at 100% as well or it won't work. Just in case there were other people who don't have newer gen CPU's hopefully this helps. I'll update in case I get the crash again, but it's been two days since then and I've had no more of those specific crashes. Pray it gets addressed by GGG. Peace and blessings yall.
