Option to turn particles OFF - discussion

you don't have to buy anything but you can't expect GGG to wait for you to play catchup when they want to update the game.

i mean this is a weird way to upgrade the game when poe2 is about to come out... unless poe2 is the meme 'next league' kind of thing. I was hoping I can enjoy PoE without bothering with PoE2, I mean any other new game I play doesn't use even fraction of the resources that PoE needs.

Also- don't need to buy is a bit different than buy now, but beware of future changes. Right now I straight up can't use what I paid for 2 weeks ago.

Listen, I get it, its old, but if It worked 3 days ago, why do I have to buy a new one today? And please stay on topic, I'm trying to figure out if I should even bother with this game at this point as i feel like I'm far from the 'avrg player'.

You don't have to buy shit. You have to SIT DOWN AND BE PATIENT for the maybe-a-week-tops it will take Grinding Gear to sort this issue out.

You don't want to do that? Sayonara, see ya round, I'll take any of your Standard stuff you wanna hand off before you go.

You wanna keep up? Yes, the game was released ten years ago, but it has seen constant update and rebuild since then. They're building a brand new game inside this game and taking on way more work than they needed to ensuring that all your ten year old crap is still valid in the brand new game.

Spoilers: my rig is ten years old too. But guess what? It still runs PoE fine because it was a high-end beast when I bought it specifically fur future-proofing reasons, it's gotten a new graphics card ~5 years ago, and I've kept the OS up to date.

You want particle effects gone? A'ight. Good luck with monsters whose skills are all now invisible because most everything but melee attacks relies on post processing to some degree and you're asking for the ability to just turn post processing off altogether so your tater tot rig stops crying. The game was not designed for "No Post Processing", and asking for them to redesign it to allow for No Post Processing is a whole lot of dev resources they ain't got right now what with building a whole ass new game inside the caterpillar cocoon of the old game.

yeh dude, I don't know how this works. Also I don't think there would be any difference in my gaming experience if the mobs skill would be outright invisible... The clutter I get on screen gives me only a rough idea of the position of the rare mob, forget about wtf its doing. For bosses (ubers) I would prob turn it back on, but the clutter there is minimal compared to mapping.

this would be great and all, if this game wasn't released 10 years ago.

This is such a bad take.

The game has been worked on, updated and improved over the years. There have been added tons of mechanical changes, physics, graphical changes and so on. It is NOT the same game nor the same engine it was 10 years ago. It is technically IMPOSSIBLE for PoE to take any real step forward without increasing the system requirements once in a while.

People want better graphics, better servers, better physics, smoother gameplay, but they can't live with PoE being taken into the current age, and they can't live with PoE being designed to take advantage of modern hardware.

Now, did the patch fuck things up? Apparently. But there are millions of intricate hardware combinations out there. GGG can't possibly test them all. It will improve.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

First of all, the game runs smooth withouth any problem on my PC.
But... I'm SICK of this fucking shit:

While you are opening the mouth there are so many games with way better graphics running perfectly in that PCs...

Performance is half the story here ffs. There is so much shit on screen these days that we should get legit seizure warning before every fkn map
Definitely needs a particle limit system. What's wrong with limiting/trimming particles when too many appear on your screen? Huge mob packs, each mob fires a ton of skill effects, all that stuff adding up is just too much for the cpu to handle. Come on GGG, people's cosmetics can stay in town just fine...
Need to get Tier 5 Crucible armor set before league's end. No time to grind OSRS smh.

Thing is you don't even need a juiced pack. Every got a 6+essence beast? That thing alone can make the screen so cluttered you don't know wtf is happening. This is juts from the clutter standpoint.

Regarding performance I think it's in GGGs benefit to push the minimum requirement. So this will unfortunately stay.
Not sure how turning all monster and player skills completely invisible helps visual clarity at all? Then you really will have zero idea what's going on...
