If you can manage to get to the one point level threshold in races, you will be eligible for the random draw prizes.

How difficult is it to get over the 1 point threshold? If I play around 1-2 events a week, with being new to this thing so probably more at the far end of the rankings, would I achieve at least 200 points (so 20% of what is considered the top).

What sort of probabilities are we talking about for random draw prizes per point earned? Similar to dropping an exalt (which is never in my case) or bigger?

If Season One is any indicator, this should be very achievable; I think it was level 8 in most one-hour races, 11 in most three-hour events.

While it looks good in general I'm a bit disappointed that you have to party race to compete in the overall ladder, party and solo should be judged individually in my opinion.

and mmm
i hope they put some off-season cut-troath races...
ZiggyD is the Labyrinth of streamers, some like it, some dont, but GGG will make sure to push it down ur throat to make you like it
Have a couple of suggestions here...
The signature races are an awesome idea. Want to make them even better? Make it so people can create a character at any time and run their own signature race. That way if the time schedule doesn't give me a chance to race one night I can just load up the signature league or however you do it and do a run.

You have people doing this already. I often get on and run an hour practice race when there are no races for me to participate in. If you have a season long leaderboard for the signature race then people should be able to race in them at any time.

Also you need more race types. Here are some ideas I've been passing around...

Race idea 1: Destructible mania: Greatly increase the amount of barrels, crates, bodies, and chests found in each area. I flip out in races when I accidentally click barrels or bodies because the animation takes so long. This would add an interesting balance between item finding and racing, and I think for an hour race it wouldn’t have much of an impact on the larger league economies.

Race idea 2: No class race: In this race characters would be able to choose their starting point in the skill tree. You would no longer start at the Duelist, Marauder, Templar, Witch, Shadow, or Ranger areas. Instead your first skill point would allow you to choose any node in the entire tree and begin your build from there. For hour races this would be interesting. However, I feel that this would really shine in the 2 hour or longer races. At the end of the race GGG could just reset the skills when they port the characters to hardcore or default.

Race idea 3: Pick your Passive race: In this race characters are not required to chain their skill points together. This means with your first skill point you could take a skill at the very bottom of the tree out of the duelist area and with your second you could take a witch passive. I believe that this race would be more enjoyable the longer it lasted and that people would create some incredibly strong characters. At the end of the race GGG would just reset the character’s skill points when they go to hardcore or default and the character would be back to normal.
I think I might play more races, and hope to get enough points for the Tabula Rosa Robe..very interesting item! What a sacrifice, 6 L, but no armor/evas/ES mods...

Why are the races all about who gets the most xp instead of who progresses farthest?

Simple: Experience has a base "resolution" of 1 point (thats how many, 1/10 of the very first killed monster on the beach?), while the progress is measurable by what? How should the places be differentiated if 100's of chars reach the same, last area? Is Western Forest more valuable as Borken Bridge, or as Church Dungeon #2? (if them all were the highest achived areas)

Its just not possible to set a rule that generates a true placement and can spawn a winner.

Award additional XP at the end of the race based on quest completed, have each quest count as 1/10th of a level, gate the acts through full quest completion (requires changing the game though) and so on, I'm sure there are more solutions to that problem.
