What went wrong in the development of poe 2? Is it possible that poe 2 will be canceled?

it's more likely that they release 4.0 with the winter Holidays or early 2024.
winter time would be more reasonable with the holidays plus the current core supporter packs also run out during that time. 4.0 is a large expansion patch so I assume they introduce both patch and new core packs at the same time.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.

Hmm, it is VERY strange than a game overhaul and what looks like a mid-range content expansion is taking well over 4 years.

I am sure there are very interesting things going on behind the scenes.

It was already stated POE 2 requires them to rebuild all the character animations for every piece of cosmetic from the ground up

Ya that's not how it works. When creating animations you use a skeleton, it's basically a stick figure with bendy joints. You determine a path those joints make during the animation and create loops or whatever is needed for whatever animation. Then a 3d character model is rigged to the skeleton, attaching the model to parts (bones) of the skeleton so they move along with it in a natural way. Then they attach armor to the model, either in game or in whatever modeling app they are using, so that the armor moves along with the model that is attached to the skeleton that is doing the animation.

The devs are absolutely not making custom animations for every piece of cosmetic gear in the game, they said they are making unique animations for each character rather than sharing one between all characters. They might make a different animation for light, medium and heavy armor, but it's unlikely. The only animations cosmetics get is if they have moving subparts, but these are unlikely to need any adjustment. GGG is probably not going to touch any of the old MTX, the new character models will have the same proportions and same attachment points so old armor will transfer to it seamlessly even if it looks very dated.

These are the kinds of overblown expectations that are probably going to muddy the release.

Since it was announced at the end of 2019 we have only received small fragments of the development of the game when the premise was to release the beta at the end of 2020? Was it a hallucination? I remember when we saw the announcement of poe 2, a friend and I said that there would be a beta at the end of 2020.
We are in 2023 and the only thing we have on the agenda is a second Exilecon (totally unnecessary in my opinion), in the summer of this year where the beta date will be announced and not the final release date of the game.
Don't you think that this second Exilecon is an act of pure pretentious narcissism?
It gave the impression that GGG was a step ahead of Blizzard, by reacting quickly to the Diablo IV announcement, implying that they had the game/patch (because poe 2 is just a big patch to poe 1) ahead of time. that really was in plain sight of the facts.

Will poe 2 die before launch? because as I understand it, the last leagues of poe, it is not that they are having a very good reception either. Is it really so? I don't mean to generate hate towards the game, I love poe but I'm just genuinely curious to know what could have gone wrong and what the community thinks, if something could have gone wrong or was it just a wrong impression of my colleague and I seeing the announcement of poe 2.

goal of devs was to release poe2 before diablo4.
They failed.
Now, millions of people will have diablo4 to beta test and then play before poe2 goes into beta.

covid was reason so team had to work from home delaying the development.
and diablo4 came out before they expected it to.
