3.20 Balance Manifesto: Jewels and Ailment Mitigation

"
Players should no longer be burdened with predictable unique Jewel quest rewards but will not entirely miss out on some of the valuable aspects they did have.

If we ever needed a line to tell the story for how little you think of your community and how out of touch a developer could be when it comes to what their community is looking for... this was it.

Diablo 4 is looking mighty interesting these days, and these sorts of manifestos just further cement the idea that PoE is sinking faster then the Titanic. Best of luck with the flood waters, and I hope any staff member can find a life raft before CW rides this ship to Ocean floor.
More nerfs, great. Keep at it, GGG.
sounds awsome!
"Some other build-enabling Jewels that affect Golems can no longer drop but can be found from another more deterministic source. While we want you to discover this new source on your own during gameplay"

LOL rip golem build, really vicious this method for ruin a build . :)

seriously GGG made ruthless mode a standalone instead of incorporating it by default in other mods. Nobody asked you for this mod, nobody wants it in softcore

Instead of getting rid of these, we've made them corruption-only unique Jewels.

So you are removing corrupted blood immunity/elepen from some of the most important jewels we can get for INT/STR stackers?
Thanks GGG It seems like i wont even bother downloading 3.20... It's pretty obvious you are not making the game i used to love anymore.

So the problem is the constant harasement of ailments from monsters in general because of the amount of shit happening on the screen and all the unavoidable soup of effects thrown at us with no interruption during what is left of combats.

So instead of fixing the root cause, it sounds to me that the solution is dilluting jewels stats even more so that we can hope to reach the soon to become (if not already) mandatory status ailment immunity required to not feel like shit when immerged in the previously mentionned soup.
Ailment immunity that doesnt cover the ever increasing list of effects that are aliments but not ailments cause they have the same effect but an other name.

Some niche but cool unique jewels will have their stats hopefully put on rares so it adds yet an other layer of RNG while making unique ones "chase" items. Chase meaning that most people will never see one outside of the broken things you call a trade system.

Exactly. If Elemental Avoidance becomes mandatory (as clearly stated in GGG's post), there is not really a player choice when it comes to defense and one would wonder if it is not better to revise the elemental ailments mechanics from monsters. The game should be playable without elemental ailments avoidance and if a player so chooses to take some avoidance on the tree, then yes, he should have an easier experience but never balance a game around full elemental avoidance. (And this applies to other mechanics as well).

Problem:
Jewels have modifiers that provide various forms of ailment avoidance or protection. However, because their current values are moderately low, you often need to stack several Jewels in order to have adequate levels of protection. We feel that this is an excessive amount of investment for how necessary ailment mitigation is to a character's build. This issue has been exacerbated by some of these mods being gated behind corruption, making them more expensive and difficult to acquire.

Solution:
We're expanding the pool of mods available on magic and rare Jewels and are making their modifier values more generous so that players have better access to sources of ailment mitigation, with less investment.

So it's official then, high level characters are now always expected to have ailment immunities, making ailments from monsters just another boring box to tick in the build sheet ....

boring (seriously)

Some build-enabling unique Jewels can now be found from more deterministic sources throughout Path of Exile. One example is Combat Focus which can now be obtained through a vendor recipe.

That's nice !
I hope that most threshold jewels will have a vendor recipe like this.
SSF is not and will never be a standard for balance, it is not for people entitled to getting more without trading.
What happens with Lord of Steel (the three versions of it)?
