It would be aloof to think people aren't using real cash to purchase currency. I've caught certain streamers on their recorded videos mistakenly saying they purchased currency. Sort of have to play the game, "what's in a word." Sadly our most popular streamers.

Food for thought... "What's in a cookie..." Cookies tell us many things these days. Just keep that in mind.

Edit: And people complain about harvest lol... HMMMMM

And yet I, probably the least likely person to ever resort to it, get censored for merely making a pun about D2's most famous RMT site. Double standards what?

GGG should keep me in their prayers to their Eastern Overlords -- were I the RMT type, they wouldn't have gotten so much money out of me when they needed it most. Fuck, I probably would have spent far less.

The name says it all.

I am probably considered extremely frugal by most… The current supporter packs, I LOVE most of them. Look closely, any of them remind you of Anime. Rarely do I buy supporter packs, aesthetically I can do a lot with these iterations. I think you already know I hate wings. So cliche these days… But damn do they sell.

I think your contributions are priceless… And I enjoy the grammar.

I tend to think that people who enjoy PoE and its slot-machine-based end-game mechanics might have gambling addiction in real-life. A survey of PoE players on whether they gamble in real-life might reveal a connection.

Not so fun fact: my 'grammar' (grandma) was dying a slow, angry and painful death and I was her primary carer when I discovered PoE, and I supported as a sort of release valve for all the stress and frustration, the same way I'll throw money at a random charity if I'm feeling in the dumps.

There's probably a term for this condition where throwing money at strangers without any real gain makes you feel better, but I've yet to learn it. Whatever it is, I have it bad.

Sorry to hear that my condolences... We can get into a very interesting and long conversation about altruism. Though I have learned something through my studies... Enjoy:

That movie is, ironically, on MY bucket list, so I'll skip the clip and watch the whole thing soon.

Hm, well there's a related term: psychological egoism. This notion that no matter what we do, no matter how altruistic or generous it might seem, there is always self-interest motivating it. Even if it's something as simple as 'thank you' or that aforementioned buzz of 'I did a good thing for someone else even though (or perhaps because) everything seems to be so shit for me right now'.

I am far more likely to believe in that than so-called 'true altruism', but I suspect we'll never really know. People lie to themselves all the time, after all, and they're bound to tell the same lie to others, and I believe 'I am a good person because I sometimes do good things' is one of the biggest of those.

I suppose we could pull this back on-topic by pointing out that neither GGG nor their intended players, the streamers, are even close to altruistic and there's a certain honesty to their forthright mercantile philosophy. Sort of undermines the whole 'PoE is free and everyone likes free things, right?' line Chris tried on for size a few times, but eh, it was pretty obviously just that: a line.
Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

Somewhat of a heated debate with my psychology teacher on psychological egoism. He put me on the spot and asked me... So what is Altruism, give me an example. My example too personal for this forum, but he liked my answer after countless rebuttals. I usually don't back down if I know for a fact I am being challenged in a healthy way.

Anyways, people suffer from imposter syndrome. Which leads them to do things out of the ordinary. Extremely healthy and okay to do "reality checks," with friends and family. You be surprised how many people can actually craft, but if they keep thinking they can't... well their loss. Crafting is fun, there's a bit of a rush when it's successful.

The issue is, that people don't know when to stop... Look at some of our popular streamers, many of them have puppy eyes. (Trying to be nice) I get it, they need to make a living, but hell take a damn break lol.

This is why Harvest was so good... it actualy gave the game a crafting instead of casino gambling.

It exists as it should; Not in its giga overpowered form of being able to craft gg gear in just a few days of gameplay.

I would say I suffer from imposter syndrome but I think I'm just an imposter, and I haven't yet really done anything that screams 'real deal'. Probably the closest I came was when I'd attend academic symposia and felt like a blithering idiot, but then later I'd realise some of the others probably couldn't understand half of what I was on about either.

Imposter Syndrome is truly worth of being called a Catch-22 in the Heller sense: you have to have it before you can wonder if you have it.

Not every streamer can make rewatchable, useful videos but I do respect the ones who can. Then again, since I never watch actual streams (other than those hosted by devs/studios), I guess I've never really been exposed to any other sort.

__

As for crafting, people praise Harvest but then speak of this weird cartel-like entity 'The Forbidden Trove', and not in the best light either. So...mixed messages all 'round. Please don't mistake my ignorance for a desire to be otherwise: I treasure the bliss of it, lacking as I am otherwise.
