Meanwhile you're over here trolling saying its a better game without presenting ANY DANGED THING that it does better than POE.

It has sexier waifus than PoE. 'Nuff said. :p

Wait... do PoE has sexy waifus at all?

Err...Witch, Nessa, Helena, Clarissa, Maramoa, Vanja, Piety, Lilly, Alva, Jun, Cassia, Catarina, Gianna, Tullina, Oshabi, Zana? Even the Scion might qualify, if you're the type to read Kotaku and Polygon for your gaming 'journalism'.

Interesting.

What's your personal definition of "sexy waifu" by the way?

The moment when a discussion about which game is better enters the stage of comparing "sexy waifus"... is the exact moment when I can't take the discussion serious anymore. ^^

That was the intention. ;)
People are funny comparing the numbers of an new overhyped new game and a ~10 old game.

How is PoE dying exactly? It is running its usual cycle:
- Big numbers during the launch
- In two weeks more than half leaves
- Anywhere from 50-70k (Steam) remains.
- Number of player keeps reducing more and more as the League becomes older

Let's bet that PoE still will have ~150k on Steam during the next launch?

Meanwhile, I'm curious how LA will look like in 3 months, 6 month, 1 year. There were over 1 million players and now there's already 700k, and the game has mixed reviews on Steam.

Even if LA retains higher overall numbers it will be false and dishonest to say it's a PoE killer if PoE will retain its usual numbers next League, the League after the next etc. Why would it have higher numbers than usual? It's the player count that devs and every reasonable person expects.

Of course it will. Threads like these are made by people who are unable to see nuances, and only see themselves. PoE might be dead to them because of Lost Ark, and when they think they're the center of the universe, threads like this get created.

That said, I think Lost Ark will go strong for quite a while. It still is in Korea, 3 years after launch. It even has a pretty fleshed-out endgame, which is rare for "new" MMOs. It all depends on Amazon, on how much they'll fuck it up.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

Personally I think it would have been better if not delivered through Amazon/Stream. The RAM needed to play the game is just insane, and even if you have good latency..... stutters a LOT because of Steam's ISP throttling. Even if you ignore the extensive boring secret missions needed to acquire stats/medals that trade for powerful gear, that are almost entirely hidden unless you're looking at a how to wiki.... the throttling is a game killer.

I generally love Korean upstart markets, but I have yet to see a Korean popular game that receives the same love from the international community. The cycle is astonishingly similar no matter how diverse or creative the game is; while Korean gamers treat a game as a culture, bordering on worship/exaltation, the rest of the world just judges it based upon how it stacks up to other games with similar features.

So far, Lost Ark feels like it was designed by copying Black Desert's skills and grind pattern, Tera's quest patterns and gear drops, and Archeage's ownership and world boss raid policies, and enchant system. I don't personally consider any of those features "what made those games successful." If anything, they were the harshest criticisms those games received.

Tera wasn't popular because of its quests and gear drop commonality. It was popular because of its combat system which put you in a sort of 1st person perspective, and awesome boss instances based around semi hard puzzles.

Black Desert wasn't popular because of its clunky skill system or grind pattern. It was popular because of full body customization, auto crafting which was done by hired help in workshops.

Archeage wasn't popular because of its world bosses, and several features of ownership was off-putting. It was popular because of pvp trade routes, Flying mechanisms (something I have yet to see another game do properly), farming creating spontaneous poaching opportunities, and its dual faction revival (which only Shaiya to my knowledge had in a similar way) and a criminal system.

Something all these games had in common as well: within 3 years of being global, their publishers botched them, along with in some cases the developers, by changing their visions, nerfing fun content, or outright selling. For example, some farm/trade areas in pvp areas of Archeage originally were full PVP, PK, and both same faction and other faction opposition, which played a role in land acquisition. About a year into Archeage, they took this away in nearly ALL zones, and made farms PVE zones (even if the region was PVP). Land acquisition became less about being a good strategist around the pvp, and COMPLETELY about who was running an autoclicker on good latency to approve a land certification before the next guy.

Black Desert never had a good swimming or boating system, even though part of the game involved it, and questing eventually bored people to death.

Tera was by most measures successful, even though they had countless lawsuits over Lineage content, but eventually people bored of doing the same old content hundreds of times like any other Korean game.

That's not the point. Everyone has a different taste, so pick one that suits you.
I remember that when Heist got announced, Tullina was a good sexy waifu candidate in the eyes of some players.
The witch has her fans, too.
And with Merveil we even hafe a tentacle sexy waifu. :o)
