PoE graphics far better than D3

i wouldn't say better. but different. POE went more for the realistic Dark grungy atmosphere. Diablo has the more cartoony colorful approach. there are some areas in act 2 in diablo that look amazing!

Not only better,but easier for the PC (atleast thats my opinion). No problems playing on the stress test weekend with video settings set to maximum on my PC (ye olde one). Enjoyed the graphics,really good work!

Oh I like PoE very much its superb game..
But stop posting things like that PoE has better graphics then Diablo 3.. If you say that , you simple dont have good computer to run diablo 3 at high settings. in both games graphics are really good , but diablo 3 is way ahead , in details etc..and its normal!. Blizzard is HUGE company , what you expect. |

Here's my honest comparison between their graphics.
D3 - Obviously influenced by WoW, in my opinion. I think most would agree that the graphical style of D3 is a radical departure from D2. In fact, there were people threatening to protest D3 when it was first unveiled, calling it "World of Diablocraft" or something like that. Still, it doesn't look bad. And as someone else said, this kind of graphics will stand the test of time because it doesn't try to be realistic. There is also a hell of a lot more polish because there is about 50 million more bucks poured into D3, so it is what it is. PoE - Sharper, cleaner, more realistic, more impressive technically considering I have a higher framerate, but a lack of scaling options on the graphics holds me back from saying too many more positive things about it. I think weather particle effects should be able to be turned on and off, but even in those zones my frame rate is better than in Diablo on lower settings. PoE also has good design overall but it is very derivative of Diablo 2. As such, areas in PoE just feel like graphically updated Diablo 2 areas. The color palettes used in an area are not very colorful, but they are very detailed and sharp and the randomization aspect is compelling and interesting most of the time. On a personal level, I prefer PoE to D3 because of customization. Graphics are just this short of a non-issue for me. I also like the idea of an indie developer with help from devoted fans creating the game I hoped D3 would be. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, but I like what I see a lot more in PoE than in D3. |

Comparing PoE's visuals to D3's is pretty much close to comparing D3's to TL2's. You see where I'm pointing at? On this scale, from realistic, semi to a full-on oil painting, they still are great games. Of course, when it comes to D3, the majority, well, a major fraction of Diablo fans would make a big issue out of D3's graphics, which may make you reconsider whether D3 is actually a good game or not. But graphics are only half the lot.
The graphics are indeed good. It certainly isn't what a Diablo fan (such as myself) would prefer, but I do find it appealing in its own way. Well, so to speak as I consider it more of a spin-off than a sequel. On the other hand though, Lineage Eternal (which is currently in development) may be the closest and also most fair to bring to comparison with PoE, giving the huge similarities in their presentation. I'm bringing a brand new title to this debate merely to give you a better contrast on where each title stands. To me it's a hard choice. But why choose if I could play all of them? It's rather confusing, I understand. And I'm most likely going to be playing TL2 the most, because I strongly believe it's the most authentic (and fun) of all. | |
