I don't believe that Vaati didn't win. Amazing.

The paper cut-out comic was cute and original.

I'm a little nonplussed about the "originality" point, though. It's underwhelming to know that people think corny sketches of muscular videogame characters are what should constitute "fan art." It reinforces that awful cliché.

There is so much original and interesting artwork in the world that is derived from pre-existing assets and bricolage. Denying this is to deny the art of collage, remix, poster art, and satire in general. Yes, you can have original ideas that involve changing a few words around or showing something in a new light. Comics are built on this. Advertising is built on this.

I think we're all in agreement that PoE itself is a derivative work based on ideas that existed in other action CRPGs, but no one is suggesting that being derivative makes something bad. There's nothing new under the sun. I feel sorry for those entrants who made something in the spirit of fun competition and were denied because they didn't carve it with their own two hands or take a photograph of it on their sketch pad.

That's the case with most artwork :) I'm happy if a few people see my stuff and get some enjoyment out of it.

Didn't get a key, but the Comical winner more than deserves it! I wasn't expecting the actual fire, laughed my ass off.

I PMed Mordliss asking if he even considered my drawing... not to flex myself, but I thought I'd be at least top 4....he never responded
