The year is 2021, why don't you allow us to just chose a spectre from all slain monster, like a UI bank.

Fucking up your spectre setup is too damn easy.

And after death aura still on?

Animate guardian inventory UI?

the year is 2021... hellooooo
I suspect bug fixes to reduce memory usage and losing portals/hideout instances may have generated issues with storing corpse data in hideouts.

Since old instances with corpse histories tend to take up more memory than fresh instances, maybe dumping old HO instances saves RAM and improves performance but means you lose access to any spectres that die in-area.

Idk if this can explain why corpse data is gone inside maps as well. Unless that part has to do with a different bug or bugfix. Perhaps the trend to make certain "desirable" spectre targets not leave corpses behind that can be targeted by the player, e.g. SO, affects any spectre that dies in any zone. In effect this may also remove it from the desecrate zonepool, for reasons I can't begin to guess at but might have to do with lowering memory usage or even for prohibiting players from raising specs in certain monsters' areas without actually killing the monsters themselves.

At any rate, storing spectre data doesn't seem like something that's threatening to break the game compared with all the other mechanics that have counters, tallies, or memory across instances.

It seems rather insignificant to allow a character sheet to "remember" 3 or 4 different types of stock monsters across zones, compared with every corpse in a map remembering that mob's HP while alive for the purposes of calculating DD effects, including HP boosting proximity auras of other deceased nearby mobs, amounting to hundreds if not thousands of entities loading and unloading with the zone.

As Chris seems keen on providing value and quality related to player interfaces, this would be a big yield for very little overhead to keep summoners happy. An icon appears in your HUD, interacting with it in a certain way opens a small dropdown menu or display saying you have ABC spectres active and BCD available thru desecrate and your storage capacity = your max raised spectre count.

edit: It would be player bound, and ONLY appear while you had a Raise Spectre gem or ability active on a piece of gear. Swapping the gem to a different socket or hitting X would not remove the UI icon or change your spectre pool, but it would be greyed out until the gem became "active" again (i.e. you hit X again or found another socket for it that would still allow it to be active).

If somehow you swapped in a copy of the gem that was the same level but had a quality or corruption effect that changed your max raised spectre count, or you removed gear that gave you +1 specs, the UI would change to reflect that one of your options was removed and you get to choose which one to sit out (saved but disabled) and which remaining ones to keep active.

if you tried to raise a new spectre type while at max count and max UI roster, it would ask you to remove one and try again. That removed one would permanently drop off your roster until you went back to reanimate it again. This way if you accidentally had spell echo still socketed in your 6L it would prompt you before booting a valued spec off your team, and you could cancel the extra summons and fix your setup. This would be made easier with a key- or numpad scroll to keep you from having to stop moving to respond, allowing you to cancel or adjust mid-map.

+1 it also destroyed any MI specter builds .

Forum pvp
If it's for memory optimization, they can make it an ingame option.
