Server providers for South-Africa

I've had to give up on the ZA servers 😞

The pings are great, but the lag spikes make it unplayable. Neither Lockstep nor Predictive are effective against these huge lag spikes.

I struggle from about 4pm to 10pm the rest of the time its amazing, so for that time period I switch to London

Really bad again on Psychz and still no updates on the situation, Sadge.

I'm new to POE, and started playing on London this year - tested South Africa this morning. 50ms - is this what the game actually feels like? Night and day difference! Best get my credit card ready for another supporter pack. Real happy that this is being considered / tested.

Playing fine all day, 8PM (GMT+2) hits, and I see the Psychz servers have backfilled the demand, instant ping spikes etc.

It worries me that Fitzy has gone all but silent on this thread. It would be nice to have some indication on if the feedback submitted is being noted, and if they are doing anything about it.

I can't imagine they are sitting there every day thinking, yep this is fine, Psychz will be our chosen bare metal hosting. I really hope not, they have not been stable at all this entire league.

Oh well, time to go play some ESO instead.

I have found that even playing on the London, Amsterdam or Frankfurt servers you would experience intense lag spikes and the game would often just disconnect you or crash. The SA servers are fairly playable, I did a simulacrum last night and some maps and it was fine. I did have the occasional lag spike, but have been experiencing the exact same behaviour on the European servers.

Agreed - I encountered insane latency on London earlier in the league when I switched to avoid Psychz when doing Uber Lab.

It's entirely possible that it could be the Scourge league mechanic which is skewing testing, as I have noted complaints from multiple regions in global chat.

Although I would think this shouldn't affect WinMTR results, it may be possible that the Scourge mechanic is overloading the baremetal servers for certain providers globally - speaking in terms of higher network congestion during peak hours and whatever is causing reports of crazy latency worldwide.

Otherwise, I am extremely pleased with the performance I have been getting thus far off peak, but it's noticeable immediately when Psychz servers start getting used to backfill capacity (I believe it's configured like this per last update from Fitzy).

I did a WinMTR test and it seems that everything is fine until it jumps to a hosting service called psychz-networks-za.

Experiencing major lag right this moment, 65% packet loss yikes!

EDIT: Actually, I don't think the issue is with Psychz, it's the JHB exchange.
