Painseeker doesn't disable applying alternative ailments with crits?!!

Its very self explanatory honestly. It means what it says. It would have to say "crit do not apply non damaging ailments" to work like you think it does. Not a bug. Crits still can apply shock and chill too.

In other words:
Without Paiseeker: Crit with elemental damage -> guaranteed ailment
With Painseeker: Crit with elemental damage -> ailment depends on your chance to shock, freeze, ignite, sap, brittle, scorch

Nope. That's apparently not what's happening here, but your misunderstanding just further illustrates how grossly unintuitive this mechanic is. Octavian doesn't have any chance to apply those ailments - he's applying them via crits.

Apparently it's cos Secrets of Suffering forces that interaction, which doesn't inherently exist. Hence crits can apply them. How new (or even old) players are supposed to figure out besides dumb luck or being told it by others I don't know. It's a terribly unclear description, which has apparently been brought up here multiple times...
as they talk about on the baeclast...

clever use of mechanics?
intended?
unintended?
exploiting?
bannable?

with GGG at this point you're basically rolling the dice

Again, the gloves dont say you cant do that, just that its not guaranteed inherently. If you have other sources (like keystone in this case) you still can apply them.

I'm glad someone else has finally asked about these gloves, cause it's not exactly been 100% clear to me either but I still made a build around them. To be honest, his description is exactly how I've been interpreting the use of those gloves. In fact, those gloves are the very reason I've been so adamant about GGG correcting the error with legacy Ungil's ammy to revert it back to the -25% crit multiplier

https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2894008

In that thread I've addressed the issue but GGG is still deathly silent about it. That ammy and those gloves, you can see the obvious interaction; so with a legacy +1 frenzy and applying a +1 frenzy node from the skill tree - this make a hell of a serious difference in a char's build.

The fact that this isn't even said with sarcasm is precisely why GGG's 95% code of silence in explaining shit is NOT working out for players. In fact, I got spooked as hell hearing about GGG banning guys accounts during that Ultimatium league for doing whatever circle method it was. Had things have been EXPLAINED from the jump, stuff like this wouldn't have happened. It's like they want you to follow game rules BUT do not tell you the game rules; yet punish you when you break them. Like wtf.

Myself and a few others have pointed out for years that GGG doesn't explain shit at times, when it's really important. Crafting, new temp league mechanics, monster mods , etc. It's really a pain in the ass, cause by the time you learn something it's either nerfed or changed. This method of silence and let players figure out things by trial and error is just plain wrong, in a game this complicated (complex mixed with unnecessary changes).

By the way, for anyone wanting to just say "look at poe wiki" - that's not always up to date nor explains much of the same questions people have. Also, it's not PoE wiki's job too, it's GGG cause it's their game. PoE wiki was made by the good will of someone else not in cahoots with GGG. On the flip side if GGG officially bought the page as we're led to believe then it's even more so to the point that GGG should be breaking shit down and explaining alot more in depth on the Poe wiki page.
I rarely post, but when I do it's important. Fighting for the player, not monsters! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/880487

That's not the full post, I'm trying to post it but the site is acting funny, sec I'm trying to edit. It must have something to do with quoting multiple people.

edit - it had something to do with having it underlined (U) and bold (B). Worked fine when I removed those.
