Lancing Steel + The Saviour crashes
Unfortunately I don't see it in the patch notes. Playing without sound i guess :)

Crashing also for me, same issue. Shattering Steel and the Saviour. I get less crashes with Lancing Steel but it still does crash.

I'd like to add my experience to this as well.
Using Lancing Steel with a Saviour/Pardoxica. I mainly see the issue in boss fights. While fighting, the sound gets very choppy and when I complete the fight, I get pausing in my session to where I can't move, I see the items drop. After they drop then I *HEAR* the items drop -sometimes a second or two delay between seeing and hearing the unique items drop. From there, either my session catches up and I can start to loot or I'll get knocked out to the character selection menu and have to reenter the map to loot. I messed around with replacing the Saviour with a different weapon and I didn't seem to have any of these issues. I'm currently playing in standard and have only witnessed this since the last major update. |

If it helps for investigation purpose I think it's the combination of Saviour/Steel & Sniper's Mark. Too many projectiles and their sound on the screen are responsible for the crashes. Could you guys confirm you are using sniper's mark as well?
Playing without sound wokrs totally fine. If the devs want so see a video i can provide it. Hope we get a solution asap. |

Same issue here - Crashing every couple maps since equipping Saviour have tried turning sound off and still crash.

Hey, I see that many have experienced the same issue. I can add myself to the club now, since I just purchased the sword just today and as soon as I put it on, the game started crashing on me.
I am playing shattering steel, so it seems to be affecting at least the steel skills. If there is need for further information I can try to gather as much as I can, given that the game just crashed to desktop without any error messages. Hope this will get resolved soon. Edit: If this helps, then I am running an AMD system with a Ryzen 5 2600 and a RX580. Don't know whether intel and nvidia systems are affected. " As I recently had switched to using Sniper's Mark over Poacher's mark, I figured I would give your theory a test. I did this in the Hallowed Ground map where the boss cannot be damaged until the rest of the map is cleared. Using Lancing steel, Sniper's mark and a Saviour, I got the sound stutter that got progressively worse until it knocked me out to the main menu. This took less than 30 seconds of fighting the boss I came back in, switched my mark from Sniper's to Poacher's and I pounded on the boss for several minutes with no issue. I went back to the Sniper's mark and removed the Saviour. Again, no issues. For fun, I added greater volley into the mix to see what kind effect it would have. It seemed to cause the disconnect a little faster with the Sniper's Mark/Saviour combo but still wasn't an issue when omitting either the Saviour or the Sniper's mark. My guess is the same as yours. The game is trying to render the sound from the projectile split caused by Sniper's mark. Since the Saviour's reflection minions basically triple the projectile count, the system can't keep up and eventually tosses me out to the logon screen. I haven't yet tested without sound. This is happening to me too using Savoir with shattering steel / lancing steel /call of steel. Random but frequent CTD without an error messages. Does not appear to be happening with other skills.
I was having the sound issue before with lancing steel (using a Savoir) and sniper's mark. But that sound stuttering/crash felt different from the crashes I'm currently experiencing. With sniper's mark, the sound would audibly distort, stutter my frames, and then crash to the main menus of PoE over the course of a couple seconds. With this new crash, its using shattering steel (with a Savoir) without sniper's mark and it happens quite suddenly. There appear to be no audio or visual queues that the crash is eminent unlike with the sniper's mark crash. They could still be related though... Also, uninstalling my shader files didn't help. |
