The "memes" by PoE players, what people really think & what they actually mean

You forgot a top 3 reddit meme:

feel the weight when it comes to picking up items that are...valuable but simultaneously they can't be arsed to pick up.

I wonder how many times you could post

feel the weight
close your eyes and slam
holding QoL hostage
GGG hates fun
small indie company

before getting banned over there.

Because putting it in list form and drawing attention to how misunderstood, overused, and trite these phrases are would probably get you banned, but using them one at a time from different users is fine.
This is the first post of yours I feel is just blindly one sided, honestly. You seem to be ignoring reality to present a white knight cause. White knights are fine when they are reasonable, but lets explore why you are not.

"Close your eyes"
Every week we have multiple "Hurrr durr how are your close your eyes" threads in the forums & reddit, implying that such a scenario is non-existent and doesn't reflect reality.
Is that really the case? To me that's just a truism about human nature when it comes to gambling with odds.
When you use exalts, you really do figuratively close your eyes and wish for the best - same goes with all crafting RNG.

You miss the point. Gambling is closing your eyes and hoping. True so far.

THe problem is almost players do not close their eyes and gamble with exalts, they trade them. Pretending that the crafting experience for players is spending exalts is just out of touch with reality.

THAT is the problem, which you miss entirely, intentional or not.

"Slam 2 HP regen"
If you don't have a possible bad outcome to juxtaposition with the good outcome, there's no emotion to be found - crafting would become meaningless without this 2 life regen.

True, which is why people no longer slam exalts. Again, you missed the point.

Gambling is gambling because you can lose all your money. But maybe a company called GRINDING gear would realize that grinding toward something is more fun than gambling?

"No fun allowed"
To me it seems like they try to increase the fun by not having the game trivialized with overpowered mechanics.

"GGG hates QoL" & "Holding QoL hostage"
Is that really the case?
You also just recently got 100% free differently coloured and saturated custom cursors to increase visibility of the cursor but this is portrayed as a bad thing by all PoE discussion channels almost univocally because there's an option for a paid feature of it.

Trivial for who? Again, if you didnt trade on discord, you had to run about 200 maps for a specific mod, and to make a item endgame you maybe need 20 mods? If you are lucky.

So 4000 maps? For ONE item, not your whole build.

Discord was the problem here. They DID nerf fun for most players, while balancing around ubergamers like you.

I dont care about China arguments so wont address them.

Do you disagree with any the following?
-GGG seems to be balacing around the top few percent, players like you.
-GGG communication seems to be out of touch with all but the top 1 to 5 percent of players
-The reaction to Harvest shows that GGGs idea of good development does not match at least a good deal of players (I hate it when people say they represent the majority so I wont do that)

Anyway, this is the first league in 10 leagues I have sat out, with no plans to return, so personal experience says this might be a turning point.

Time will tell, if you think GGG will sit on top forever you are flat out delusional. Its when, not if.

I really despise Diablo 3 for reducing Diablo's inventory system to an everyday MMO pick-up-everything system. May as well have just sold us an auto-pickup goblin for real money on day 1

"Quality of Life" usually just means making the game easier. The phrase has been abused by developers and is now used by players to soften the blow of their request to make the game easier.

What are you even talking about?

Is picking up items "hard" to you"

Do you think the game is easier if you dont have to click on 100 perandus coin?

Did you really think before posting that not clicking on 1,000 items is making the game easier or harder?

I cant imagine the mindset of a human being posting that clicking on items on the ground is hard/easy.

Are you paid to post this stuff?
this is an amusingly apologist post for our OP, low key sarcasm memes are the best way to treat quite a few of the games problems right now and there are problems.
They might be growing but not as much as they should. In it's heyday WoW made BILLIONS for blizz every year to take another maintained game. We hover around 100K player peak for years. As such I think criticism is valid whatever it might be since a noobs supporter pack as just as important to sell to as an old pros is. GGG does bend too. Like we fought them for years to get SSF over fears of diluting trade leagues. And got it.

You gotta realize over on reddit the things in the OP (and my addition of 'feel the weight') pop up in every thread, no matter how off topic.

Someone could be sharing their artwork and some yahoo will say 'uh hUh BuT dId YoU cLoSe YoUr EyEs aNd SlAm tEh pApEr WiF yOuR pEnCiL?' and then everyone claps. It was funny like the first 2 times now it's obnoxious.

And the worst part is they consider this giving feedback by mocking an out-of-touch developer who is 'holding QoL hostage' when in reality they don't understand the psychology or design merits behind a lot of these phrases.

There's a post on the front page here in the forums right now full of people 'durr how is your close eyes and slamming going?' where someone rightly points out they had some good annul slams this league. But the haters and the ignorant want to insist on taking Chris literally instead of seriously with his line about exalt slamming.
I don't understand why everybody is picking on the OP.
I actually agree with most of what he wrote.

People just need to calm down a little. ^^
KMQ has quite the history here. They're not just reacting to this particular post.

Is it really most likely plausible that the developers don't want players to have fun?

No. But it seems to me that they are out of touch with significant parts of the community about what players experience as a fun and rewarding game experience.
