Got same problem. Did a ALT+Enter to get windowed mode. Seems like PoE work with mouse outside window. When mouse enter window it freeze and work again when mouse move outside window.

Windows 8.1 64 bit.
This is one weird bug. When I attempt to alt-tab into the game, the thumbnail that appears shows the game running properly, but when I actually switch into the game it shows only black screen. |
