Can someone please help me understand how and where does the dmg for this build come from?
It cannot:
- crit
- bleed
- poison
- any kind of ele alinment
So as far as i understand this build is supposed to deal high amount of elemental dmg. But we use 2 physical spell for it.
Yes there's wrath but it can only give so much.
Im lvl 75 and my dmg is at MAX 5,9k with every dmg booster on. Without those its 3k.
I've read that this build really starts to shine at around lvl90, which would be understandable but i dont see the magic item or passive note on the tree which is going to give me 99,9 million extra dmg (as the title suggests)
On the other hand at least its tanky, right? Mana builds usually tanky af.
Well, no. Metamorphs or Blight monsters are a nono, Ultimatums kill me on the 3rd round ez with arcance cloack on.
I dont really care about survivability on softcore, because if the dmg is good
additional survive mechanisms can be applied...the problem is that the dmg is very very low, and i dont see what is going to scale it further.
Thanks you if you can help.
I would recommend joining the discord, your missing a lot of information/miss-understanding a lot.
Hey guys, I am playing hcssf and doing this build the best I can. I am not having much luck finding gear with good rolls for this build so alot of my gear is kinda junk. Just wondering if anyone has any quick tips or suggestions for next steps on this guy: IllDieToAfkIGuarenteeIt

its absurdly important you annoint mind drinker on your amulet right away
You get damage from Archmage which essentially adds flat lightning damage based off a percentage of your mana pool. So if you stack mana, it not only improves your defence through Agnostic & MoM, it also improves your damage. That's what makes Archmage so effective.
The flipside is Archmage supported spells cost a lot of mana. And if you run out of mana, you have no defence or damage while you wait for your mana pool to slowly fill back up. So getting ways of sustaining mana is very important.
There are two ways of getting good mana sustain: stacking mana regeneration and anointing Mind Drinker which gives 2% mana on kill. You currently have neither so you lose all your damage and defences the moment you cast Blade Blast a few times and drain your mana pool.
I would suggest getting a Mind Drinker anoint on amulet asap. It is very cheap and will provide all the sustain you need during mapping and ultimatums. For bossing, you will need to be careful to not spam too much and let your mana pool recover between casts. Getting better gear like Cloak of Defiance and Foible will help passive mana regen which will improve bossing ability.

thank you, that explains a lot
Archmage makes you spend 6% of you mana. +10% more mana cost if qual 20. It adds flat lightning damage based on the mana spent as additional damage for 108% at skill gem of 20. With 10,000 mana 6% + 10% is 660 for a base cost. Then you have to factor in the mana multipliers of other supports.
Intensify = 140%
Controlled Destruction = 130%
Elemental Focus = 130%
Lightning Pen = 140%
With that alone the base cost is ~2184 mana for a single cast of Blade Blast. Well my math says 2186 but POB says 2184 so it is close enough I guess.
Archmage at gem 20 adds 7-134 damage per hit which is about 71 average added lightning damage per hit. Factor in the (2184 X 1.08) + 71 = 2430~ base lightning damage per hit for Archmage with that much manage spent. Unfortunately BB only allows for 50% added effective damage so that is about 1215 lightning damage per cast of BB. It does cast twice per second though. The reason for the reduced damage per hit though is because you can blow up blades for more damage. In this build guide we assume an average of 10 blades so 1 cast would be 12150 damage per 10 blades being blown up on a target. If you can get 50 blades on a target it would be 60,750 damage per cast. Basically the build is scaling up that huge base hit though of 12150 archmage lightning damage as much as possible with as many blades out at once as well as increased cast speed, elemental damage, lightning damage, reducing resistances, and such.

For example, my current setup does 14.1 million DPS on 10 blades.
If I pull out JUST the Archmage gem, that drops to 4.5 million DPS. That single gem more than triples my output.

I got this ring with conductivity (I know it sucks but I wanted to free up a skill slot).
What gem should I replace conductivity with?
And if you guys can tell me what my next 5 biggest upgrades should be that'd be great
Slot in vaal righteous fire instead. And for an upgrade, I'd be looking for another sceptre, so you can run dual weapons on bosses and keep mistwall for mapping.
Worth picking up a crown with an enchant, and I'd seriously look into some 20/20 corrupt skill gems while you level your existing set in your off hand weapons.
