Is POE the best ARPG available now?

It's fun most of the time. Highly depends on the build and gear/rng. Honestly I can't wait for Diablo 4 to come, I need something fresh and closer in design to an ARPG.

POE is, for me, by far the best ARPG ever. A POE killer will need to have the depth of POE item system and address MP.

I'd say so, yes.

PoE in its current status does not hold players strong enough. Not enough stability, not enough retention (strategic goals).

I saw the intro of D4 again and I too wish it were here. If they manage to create a decent, stable game that feels originally dark and allows long term goals - my guess is that most of the PoE players will at least have a go at it and many will have to be 'won' back.


I think PoE 2 hyping/preparing is used like a counter to D4 and expect some sort of timed out launch battle.

Then again, you know, it's Blizzard and they've strictly been failing - they could just continue to do that instead.

If you're new to PoE I'd say go for it and have thousands of hours of ARPG fun. It is still very much the best, though there is a lack of competition and no shortage of needed improvements.

I like games that have, how do you call it again, dedicated servers? When your character's info is stored server-side so you can't just edit the file and cheat this way etc., like PoE or Diablo 3 (not saying that cheats/hacks don't exist of course).

Why? I always end up cheating if I can and prematurely quit the game because my experience is ruined lol, I can't help it, and there's no sense of online competition because anyone can cheat etc. Finding a good item doesn't have the same feeling, unless you only compete with yourself and all.

Anyway, I like PoE because of that (and many other things obviously), but if dedicated servers didn't exist I probably would play something else.

I don't know many ARPGs that have those dedicated servers, I've looked around but I couldn't find anything except PoE, Diablo 2/3, and I think Wolcen.

PoE is my favorite out of those 4.

Yes most RPGs of all kinds lack the depth of this game. But until GGG does something about the opaque nature of game mechanics there will be the oppurtunity of some other game to match it's depth but not leave the new players in teh dark in so far as how the hell do you actually play the game.

At the very least the game is more likely to kill iteself than being killed by another.

It's the best ever but it's not for everyone. I'm sick of the bloat and the rushed leagues where players are the beta testers. It caters to the top 1% of the players.

I think I'm going to take a year off from playing honestly. Sometimes it's more fun to play less complicated/bloated ARPGs. D2R will be a breath of fresh air when it launches.

LOL this is like a dude asking his GF is he best ever. OFC ppl here gonna say so. I'd say its okay. Have to see it stable as a "rock" before I call it even good.

For me D3 first 4 months was best. Then they watered it down.

It's a matter of personal opinion. Some ARPGs might have done it better in different aspects like the story or balance etc., but no other ARPG has as much content and endgame as PoE.

For me PoE is the best ARPG on the market because no other ARPG had been able to keep me engaged that long due to the lack of content. But I can absolutely understand someone who doesn't care about the endgame and rather prefers a small, neat, but well polished, balanced and written ARPG. For them PoE might not be the best.
