3.15 Good Animate Guardian Setups
" Fair enough. But don't pair AG with Reaper. Cos the Reaper will eat your AG. :p |

" So I looked into what you were on about here and...it doesn't seem worth it? To confirm, Oskarm doesn't let the Guardian curse enemies with Assassins' Mark. So, the combo - as I understand it, you're using Fleshcrafter to convert some of his life to ES, then turn that ES into huge life regen using Mask of Stitched Demon. And Oskarm is being used to lower his base chaos resistance so that he doesn't convert too much of his life away. Right? If that's the case, then it seems like a pretty unnecessarily roundabout way to do it, and actually leaves him (and your other minions) more vulnerable than before - to one shots, mostly. You're also giving up your own chest slot for it. Since the AG has 20% chaos res by default, an Oskarm with say -10% chaos res will lower it to 10%, resulting in 20% of his life being converted to ES - which the Mask then takes away but gives huge life regen for. But now he has 20% less life than normal, is lacking in chaos resistance and you've given up your chest. Sure he'll still be pretty tanky, but there seems to be a MUCH easier way to do this, which leaves him at full base life with potentially capped chaos resist and doesn't require you to sacrifice your body armor slot at all - just allocate Grave Intentions on the passive tree and/or give him a rare armor crafted with the '% Life Gained as ES' Betrayal mod (given by Gravicius). There, now he has all the life he normally does, you can max out his chaos resistance, and you are free to wear whatever body armor you want on yourself. And he still has 20% of his life as regen. I know that Fleshcrafter also allows minions to ignore enemy resists, so there's other reasons to use it, but that's pretty build specific (plus you can also lower enemy resists below zero, resulting in even higher damage). Let me know if I've misunderstood something here. Cos as it stands it seems like this approach isn't worth it, unless you're already using Fleshcrafter for that last 'ignore enemy resists' affix anyway. Even then, it may even be better to just convert most of his life to ES, give him Geofri's Sanctuary for ES regen and use a more offensive helm on him instead (like Eye of Malice). " Umm the other minions dont have any less "health" then they did before, just some of it is ES and some is Life instead of all being life. But yes I'm using Fleshcrafters anyway, Immortal AG was just a nice side benefit. "An it harm none, do what you will" Last edited by Torguemada#3020 on Aug 9, 2021, 7:10:07 PM

The one time I used a fleshcrafter with my AG is when I gave him 49% chaos resist and a Geofri's Sanctuary so he had zealot's oath. Was quite harrowing to make sure he had exactly 49% as any more would kill him and any less would make him that much squishier. Sucks that you have to use up his chest slot for zealot's oath, too. (the real reason I used fleshcrafter was because I was running skelly mages and didn't want to bother with enemies having resistances.)
One that people often look over is Doppleganger Guise, off Maven. The AG is always considered sane, so he will always regenerate 10% of life if hit within the last second and will have the less phys/chaos damage taken. Used it last league (alongside some always-on % life regen) and he never got close to dying, especially when there was tons of stuff around. Big boss hits occasionally put a small dent in his life, but the other regen sources brought him back to full before the next swing. Украина в моём сердце

" Wow, never really thought of that, but that is insanely good for AG. It doesn't heal unless hit, but it's rare for a non-hit to e relevant to AG's health pool. |

" Guise is indeed a good option, however there's many chests that can contribute to making the Guardian tanky. But there's little point in having him if he's not doing anything for you - which is why the Redeemer mod and Garb of the Ephemeral were recommended, since they both help you. However, if tankiness is all you're after in a chest, I'd recommend going for the Crusader chest option instead - it can provide comparable bonuses to Doppelganger Guise (6% regen against 10%, and phys dmg taken as lightning against less phys and chaos dmg), while also having 4 other affix slots that can be used to provide other bonuses (most notably the '%life gained as es' crafted mod, as well as resists). Rares are just more flexible. |

I know this is an old thread, but I want to add...well it all either didn't work as I had hoped or I missed it when you already said it.

I've been doing some tests. Equipping Expedition's End to AG grants him a chilling aura. That aura can be enhanced by Unbound Ailments as well as Bonechill. You can get up to a 23-24% chill this way, more with the right gear equipped.

" Yes this works. It's not included simply because there's many other ways to chill (which is a lot easier to do than freeze) enemies, and there's imo better options for a chest slot. Btw, you can also get a passive chilling aura around yourself via a cluster jewel with the Chilling Presence notable, albeit you won't be able to support that with support gems. Keep in mind that those support gems are also taking away from the survivability supports, or taking more slots. Expeditions End is also a lot more expensive than a chest with the Blind mod. If you're okay spending more on the Guardian, Garb of the Ephemeral is superior. However, if it works for your build, then by all means go for it. :) |
