yeah no, having to disable multithreading to play a single game is not ok

dude, you say it as if you were deleting all the bios. you can activate it back whenever you want.
it's just a temporary solution until ggg solves the problem
Playing poe in a 1600 without SMT is like going back in time 10 years performance wise. Unacceptable.

You don't have to do it globally in the BIOS.
There are two ways:

Task Manager, adjust PoE CPU affinity. Leave every second core on, or disable every second core (same thing) to disable SMT. To not have it do with every windows startup, you can install CorePrio. After installation it doesn't nothing except keeping you CPU Priority and Affinity settings after shutting down the PC and booting up again.
Alternative is to install ProcessLasso, the free version lets you disable SMT per right click also for just a single process you want, instead of all windows processes.

And I can confirm (having done the coreprio version) it fixed my crashes.

Note: If you have a different CPU than a Ryzen 1600 with 12 threads, then you need to research which cores to disable to disable SMT (due to different amount of cores) unless you use Process Lasso which just does it for you.

Doesn't really affect the performance, in fact SMT does hinder a lot of games still as devs don't really take advantage of it. And the issue here is that SMT seems to clash with PoE own multithreading setting, which if disabled does really fuck up perfomance.

Ryzen 1600 here also constantly crashing.
Ryzen 1700x and 1080 - I've tried all the suggested fixes aside from disabling SMT in bios. I'll uninstall the game before I alter bios for GGG's poor coding rollouts.
