The Easiest of the Easy Beginner Build Guides [1.1 SotV UPDATED]

for all the people that struggle my main advice is to get a better bow and prioritize that

290-300dps bows non 5 linked without special mods should not be worth more than 1.5 - 2 exalts(Domination rate) if anyone asks you more they're trying to flip it, when i ran my LA ranger and upgraded my bow it improved so many things for me.

1.Clearing speed which made me able to farm low lvl maps for items and currency

2.Survivability, because if you kill stuff before it hits you it's worth more than any amount of HP on gear(this does not apply to high lvl maps)

3.Overall fun and satisfaction because there's nothing more annoying than progressing too slow in this game, speed is the key factor i look for, that's why i'll never settle for boots without movespeed and why Rat's nest is my favourite unique for crit builds, i also avoid temporal chain maps not because they're hard but because they make the experience of the map crappy, a lot of players share my thoughts about this and i think it's almost a universal feeling, being slow in this game exacerbates the grinding part of the game and makes it tedious. there's no more pleasure when you can run maps fast and get levels quickly

In standard, what is the pricing like for good bows?

I have managed to get 2 exalts.

What sort of bow would that get?
Hi,

I have been using this build (with a few modifications in the skill tree and I use Burning Arrow as my single enemy skill). However I am unsure about what to upgrade on my character next, some of my equipment is obviously in need of an upgrade, but some seems ok. I need to get more currency as I have no chaos at the minute :(.

So any suggestions (and expected price) would be very helpful. Here is my current equipment:

(p.s. yes you may laugh at my belt's level!)
(p.p.s. what do you think my bow is worth in chaos'?)

Rustic sash with life and dual resist - 2-5 chaos depending on rolls

Boots with movement speed, life and dual resist -around 5 chaos

5L chest with life and dual resist 15C - 1 exalted depending on rolls(much more if it has high evasion like 1200+)

Tri resist + life rings 2-3 chaos each

amulet Phys damage + lightning damage + intelligence/strength/all attributes -2-5 chaos depending on how high the rolls are

quiver Attack speed + elemental damage + life + #x-y lightning/cold/fire damage not more than 2-3 chaos unless GGG rolls

gloves Attack speed + life + #phys/lightning damage up to 10 chaos depending on rolls

pls note that the prices are for medium-somewhat high rolls, any gg rolls or additional mods than those i've put in are gonna skyrocket the price

also look out if it's high item level 76+ and only has 3-4 mods it's asked price might be more than the mods it has because it's still exaltable

the bow is fine for now, when you start mapping you should look for 270+ pdps otherwise some map bosses might be too hard

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I actually did my first map (Orchard) yesterday just to see what it was like, I didn't complete it and didn't find the boss, but I did alright. I was hoping to find some chaos orbs as I only have 2 at the minute, I never seem to get them to drop!

I would sell some of the rares and things that I find, but I have no idea of the prices/modifiers that are required.

Read my post on page 35, I made that change and gave my thoughts around level 75-76.
I might be missing something, but why is Frenzy meant to be so good in this build for when attacking one enemy? I personally use burning arrow as it always seemed to be better to me, maybe I'm not understanding the whole benefits of Frenzy.

I think I might try and take out Blood Magic so I can use some aura like _BADKARMA_ has tried. Just hope it a good enough trade off! I have all my passive respec points for this character so I can always revert back if I don't like it.

Frenzy is self-boosting; the more frenzy charges you have the faster and stronger the skill get (aside from the %IAS the changes give). My current progression do around 1.6k DPS with no charge, 2.8 with all 6 Frenzy charged up. Its also phys damage, thus helps your leech to be more effective. If you don't grab +frenzy nodes / reward tough; some other skill may be better.

Now for my question.
After grabbing BM i b-lined for Static Blows to be able so shock stack. My attack speed is rather high and damage ok'ish (solo'd vaal around clv 60 with no real issue). However, im not seeing much shocking going on, especially given the amount of LA's i put out when frenz'd up. Im coming back to PoE after a bit of a hiatus; did something change in the current version (1.0.6 i believe) from when the guide was updated last?

Oh and following the higher damage outline, frenzy / LA focused

EDIT:

Did my own research and it appears its vital to deal high lightning damage for shocking to work well.
"

The base duration of shock is proportional to the damage dealt by the initial hit of lightning damage relative to the target's maximum life.
...
If the duration would be less than 300 milliseconds, the shock effect is not applied.

With this in mind i swapped chain for physical projectile damage and headed for Catalyse ASAP. This seems to be enough to reliably shock trash mobs and low life/resist some blue's at the moment. WED and lightning penetration would likely be necessary to shock the tougher critters unless one has a absolutely insane DPH bow.

Further suggestions how to get shock-stacking working well would be much appreciated (trash mobs and pathetic blue's aren't really the thing i struggle with killing ; )
