3.13 Launch Delayed until January
" [Removed by Support]I have been in the gaming industry for 2 decades. I can tell you that while yes, people who play POE like hack and slash, that does not mean they do not like multiple genres. I would love to see you actually counter that argument. If you don't think large launches like CyberPunk will impact other games, across genres, I don't know what to tell you. However you are welcome to your opinion and perspective. All I am doing is giving mine. A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. Last edited by Luke_GGG on Oct 29, 2020, 10:29:00 AM

" Stop acting like a kid that had his candy taken away. They know what they are doing. I m glad they had the courage to delay. | |
"Yesterday, CD Projekt Red announced that Cyberpunk 2077 will now be released on December 10. We do not want to put our players in a position of having to choose between these two games, so we have decided to step out of the way and delay the release of Path of Exile 3.13 until January."
This is so lame, like wow. You've folded under another game release because, you assessed that you will lose money. Lets be real here, and don't give us this bull. If you cared about players convenience you would at least make stacked drops, like years ago. Lame lame lame... Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen on Oct 29, 2020, 10:32:21 AM

" I surely don't. You wont have content without bugs because the extra month they will use to develop 3.14 . That's also lame. Last edited by TorsteinTheFallen on Oct 29, 2020, 10:31:55 AM

I find it very odd that the release of a totally unrelated game would be the key factor to postponing a league. I don't know too much about that game because I have no interest in it, I assume it's single player, so it has no reason to be played or rushed by everyone at release right?
I'm actually convinced most PoE players were not planning to play it on release, heck most wouldn't even play it at all. I want to play PoE and don't care about other games when a new PoE league comes out. I do play other games of course but none are like season-bound or anything. That said personally I'm not really affected because it gives me more time to get to some SSF goals I had, as I'm playing very slow (at least compared to the zoom-zoom burnout players), but still I will miss a december release, especially in these times where most of us are forced out of real life social contact. What if that game gets postponed too, or some other overhyped game, whether it be FPS, RTS, grand strategy or card game announces a release? Can't cater to that, GGG is big enough to just release when they want without feeling a major financial setback is what I'm thinking... There is no ARPG contestant anywhere close to PoE, with TL3 being a total fiasco of a game and Last Epoch that's only suited for falling asleep in front of your monitor. You shat the bed with Heist and everybody knows it. You need longer to put a league together that isn't an 8 course shitefeast. If you had said "We're taking more time on the next league to make sure it works on release", we would have been fine. Instead you are passing responsibility to another company who have nothing to do with you. Take the time to get your house in order please, it is really needed. Own the decision, don't blame somebody else.

" Your opinion is objectively wrong, though. Your guild represents a tiny fraction, of a fraction, of another fraction of the playerbase. People who play PoE love hack and slash games. The majority do. That's why they play. It's the minority who like other genres. Now weep. " Actually, delaying probably costs them more average revenue than they would lose if they Released vs Cyberpunk . Companies base everything on quarterly revenues, and as always, revenues are highest the run to up a league start when people are buying the new supporter packs. So by delaying it a month, it delays those buys by a month. Pushing back all other revenue streams by a month. So with that in mind, Id say this push back, while it may help them sell a little more on release, it'll hurt them more long term in the overall revenue picture. |
