For those with performance issues. Try this! It worked for me

Maybe its like rubbing the coin on the side of a vendig machine? placebo effect n stuff. Afaik it shouldnt have an effect on the performance, maybe its just randomly working better from time to time./ better connection to server

1. Make sure drivers are up to date.
Number 2 is a troll.
This only works if you have a 64-bit processor. Could possibly be what is "speeding" up his performance. It's not set for his chipset. But i dont see the correlation either way. Since its a video card.
I can't test this, so I can't confirm or deny it. There is a possibility that drivers get triggered or tricked into doing something differently with dxdiag though.
This had no effect on my gameplay performance whatsoever.

I've been having loads of performance problems. I posted my solution on reddit and it seems to have helped out a few people who did this.

If you are having performance issues. I urge you to at least try this out, really simple.

I use an ATI card, so I dont know if this works just for ATI cards or not.

click start on windows desktop and type in 'dxdiag' on the search. Open that up. Make sure it says that your drivers are up to date under display.

Now the most important thing: click 'run 64 bit dxdiag' on the bottom.

I don't know why or how, but this has vastly improved the performance of my game and for others as well. Try it out and see if it helps you or not!

can you make it a bit shorter?
Neurotypicals are the worst thing this planet ever experienced.
Play POE with open Windows Media Player. It dramatically improved my loading times (almost halved them) and fps ingame.

this doesnt make any sense, dxdiag merely detects directx functionality and displays the scan results on what compatible directx hardware you have.

it performs no corrective functions whatsoever.

It's just a placebo effect, much like many other "check this tweak" myths around. People are dumb enough to believe it does indeed work.
This sounds like the Graphics Card isn't setting the right "clocks".

For some cards/drivers setup, some games aren't detected as "3D application".
In non 3D apps, the GPU clock/GRAM clock are toned down. As soon as a 3D app is detected, the card takes it's "normal" clock values.

Launching Windows Media Player can make the card go in "3D app" mode and then you'll have a well performing card while playing your "problem" game.

For an ATI card, just go in the Catalyst Control Pannel and set the clocks to always stay at their normal values before playing PoE if this is the problem you are experiencing (it's a box you have to uncheck if I remember correctly).

No idea about this dxdiag thing ... sounds weird ... but weird stuff happens sometimes !

Anton was just trying to help others by recommending something based on his own personal experience. It might or might not work. But that's not the point. The point is that he was putting an effort to try and help others, which sad to say is something this community lacks this days.

If you have nothing good to say and have no idea how to be polite, kindly shut up. Yes, I'm looking at you kzaju. Worthless posts which achieved nothing rather than to discourage people from helping in the future
