[3.13] CoC Bladefall | Screen-wide 40m+ DPS | 10k+ ES | High defense | Any content | Very expensive

Just a small update - I'm still working on the VD build guide, it's taking time as I've had some extra work to do lately & due to the PoE events that kicked in and I don't really want to release a half-baked guide. It will certainly be out at least a week or two before next season in January, but I can't say when exactly when.

I also used that VD build through the Mayhem event and managed to get it to a very solid state on SC trade league in a matter of ~4 days (3-4h play at evenings + some trading), result:
https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/mgarin/characters?characterName=Alnerian
I certainly did manage to get a few very lucky items - like the flammability ring (trade), shield (drop) and the corrupted energy from within jewel (traded div cards) - but even without those it was already strong enough to handle any content.

So now I can say for sure - it's a pretty solid season starter. It might not be as strong as some poison or self-cast builds initially (in early maps), but it becomes stronger than those builds after either switching to LL with Shav or getting Awakened Spell Cascade. And there are lots of other upgrades and min-maxing that can be done for that build. It is expensive in the end, but you don't need to have a bank to start playing it.
what cost are you estimating to making the build work ?

It is hard to even give a rough estimate because that's too vague of a question. What is "work" for you? - managing T16 maps? managing T16 map bosses? managing delirium maps? managing delve bosses? managing simulacrum? managing 100% delirium maps? managing some other league-specific content? or maybe it's about being tanky and fast? or about convenience?

Also there are just too many ways to handle upgrading this build, so the price will also depend heavily on that. You can invest into awakened gems, or unique jewels, or good clusters, or watcher eye, or a nice weapon, or maybe curse rings, or good unnerve gloves, or maybe CDR belt/boots etc.

The very basic entry point is having 6L Shavronne's Wrapping - whatever the cost of it will be the cost of trying this build (like 5-6ex atm). The rest of the slots you can fill-in with any generic rare ES items that you pick off the ground or buy off of the trade for 1c. Weapon can be anything that is 6+ base crit and 1.4+ aps. This should get you to at least T10 maps, maybe further depending on your gem levels and your character level.

One recommendation I can give though - get Awakened Spell Cascade as early as possible before any other expensive upgrades. It increases your damage and AoE coverage by a lot and I consider it to be 2nd most important item after shav for this build.

Then just keep upgrading other items/jewels/clusters & level up.

If you're wondering what's the price range for this build to handle any content - it would be anywhere in 150~300ex range, heavily depending on the league and how long is that league running for already.

And if you want to min-max the build - it would be 500ex+, no upper limit really because a lot of items can cost more than 500ex alone. For instance single good triple damage watcher eye can easily be worth more, although it certainly isn't worth dumping all the currency into if you have a lot of items that can be upgraded for much cheaper.

thx for the long answer. if i needed to be more specific it would be what cost would it be for for it to be able to do sirius a8 without to much fuzz, cause that is so far the hardest content i try to aim for in a league.

I'd say with some compromises you can make a fairly tanky version of this build for about 20-30ex. Big purchases:

- 6L Shavronne's Wrapping = 6~8ex
- 1/0 Awakened Spell Cascade = 8~12ex
- Watcher Eye with ES on spell hit = 4~8ex

The rest of the gear should be easily purchasable for chaos, even early on in the season. Just focus on getting max ES/res items and some cluster jewels for the remaining currency.

If you know Sirus fight well - this should be enough to comfortably kill him on A8 with no deaths, 2-3 deaths at most if you suck at dodging in last phase.

Also, the prices mentioned are based on my experience this season and how much these items usually cost. Prices may still vary heavily depending on your ability to use trade, negotiate, snipe items via live search, and also depending on time in the ongoing season and especially luck.

These prices might also be completely wrong in the next season because something gets nerfed or buffed, or we get some new sources to farm specific items from, or some new OP build that uses them arises. That is why there is usually no real point in asking about build cost.

I have tried Wave of Conviction a bit during Heist, it does lots of damage, but it doesn't have AoE coverage I would want with a CoC build so ends up feeling underwhelming compared to Bladefall and VD options, or even Purifying Flame and some other spells to an extent.

As for Ice Nova - I consider it to be a pretty mediocre option due to it's much lower potential damage ceiling. While you can make it work and you can clear anything with it - you'll have to make tough choices between offense and defense while with Bladefall or VD you don't have to make them.
Also, just wanted to mention that this build got some minor nerfs via Assassin ascendancy - minus ~25% movement speed and some situational damage reduction. But it also gained a bit of dodge via Elusive effect buff. Plus there are some options on the tree that can be picked to improve Elusive effect further. I'll update it soon for 3.13.

As for VD build - I didn't have time to publish it yet, but it is also fully functional. Although with Assassin nerfs - Necromancer version I've been playing at the end of Heist league gets much more attractive and probably is the better way to go now due to some utilities it provides.

Thanks for sharing.

I was really to ask about how viable the build will be in 3.13.

I just finished re-checking and overall - nothing really changed in Ritual for this build, like, at all.

I've also updated PoB for 3.13.

Here is a PoB screenshot of what changed between 3.12 and 3.13 for a min-maxed lvl 100 character:

green = gained in 3.13
red = lost in 3.13

You can even say that we got a defense buff (via Elusive effectiveness).
