Male / Female options with classes?
Perhaps a weird question, but still a valid one for me.
I would prefer a male mage, or a male ranger over a female one. But perhaps its vice versa for others regarding other characters. My suggestion is to give the player a choice. This thread has been automatically archived. Replies are disabled.

I think that you should be able to pick a gender at the start, if you have to pay to choose (change in store) your character you would lose a lot of players. Also add cinematics and cutscenes. Basically just add more immersion, enhance the plot.
Like a BØSS.

" Correction, lose a lot of non-paying customers. Paying customers with such niche needs will stay. |

it's resource consuming work to remodel a new gender for each class as you would have to adjust the way armor fits on each, attack and casting animations and dozen other things to make it fit right. Resources that could be better allocated into getting the game out and at the highest quality possible.
Silly crap like re-skins are what micro-transaction games live off of. but they have a time and place and right now in closed beta really isn't the time or place. For the record I want bigger breast and valkyrie wings in the store for my ranger, but I'll wait til after the important work is finished up. I too would prefer the option to select which sex my character is. Currently, I have a templar specced for claws because the dex/int class isn't in game and I didn't want to create a female ranger. Spending some points for str and dex along the was wasn't a big deal for me.
Blowing it off because the non-paying customers don't matter is a bad attitude to have and charging for it can come off as a cheap grab for money. I don't see the designers taking either stance. I think a better way would be to allow you to select your model and then the class you want. Being able to select a starting weapon would be nice too, I remember a voice saying something about selecting a weapon during character creation. Linking the model to a class seems very unnecessary with the current passive skill system. |

I'd be willing to pay to play a male ranger, would be better if i can pick it at start, but i can understand that it's a lot of work for GGG to make male modelled clothes for rangers aswell.
Shoep - Default league Ranger
Peohs - Any other class or character i play. Jhuvik - My Marauder Merialeth - My witch |

Though our oppinions regarding this can be heard.
And its just a suggestion, not something that needs adjustment right away. Of course the game must be finished first with there acts, quests etc. But in the long term, these kind of changes can also be important. There plenty of females who play games as well, who would prefer a female warrior, then a male one. Just saying. But ya, share your thoughts ofc. edit: Though its not our job to estimate how much time such a change would take, thats where GGG fits. |

This has been suggested multiple times throughout the beta, and Chris once mentioned that it would take around $250,000 in development cost (paying for thousands of man-hours of work) to make new models and animations for each class. The devs have said it's something they might add later, but the cost and time is too much right now.
