I Miss Boem...

Bar's pretty low here, huh.
^Yes, yes it is. Case in point, this thread still exists - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2880800

And for those who don't know, that guy has made other such similar threads before, all just to trigger people. Which is fine, apparently...

As old timers here have long since learned, the best way to have conversation on these forums is by way of sarcasm, implication, metaphor and other forms of indirect speech. Or dog-whistles, as they're understood to really be. Need to be a damn poet-cum-lawyer to get by. That's what you get when you outlaw plain speaking.
This exile was gone for some timeand returned.

Various reasons for this to happen.

Burnout of the game, non-game-related issues to take a break of several months.
Masterpiece of 3.16 lore

Shagsbeards' probation was brief. He chose to walk away. That's very different from Boem, who's being denied access here. Whether Boem will choose to return or not is a question, but all I'm saying is that he should be able to.

Actually, he's still been here, though not as regularly. He last posted about an hour ago.

Good to know, but my point is that his presence or lack thereof is cos of his choice to engage or not, not because Support is keeping him gagged indefinitely.

I didn't necessarily agree with all the stuff he said, but he was one of the more articulate people on this forum and so well worth at least paying attention to.

The guy reminds me of my aging grandpa who spends his time rambling endlessly on off-tangent shit. But ok lul articulate.

I'm with dave on this one. I have no idea how people get banned on the forums. I spend half my time intentionally flaring toxic flamewars, and I've had countless posts deleted because of politics/religion. Never been banned once. I know that sounds like bullshit for someone like me, but I haven't.

Yea I dunno. I argue 24/7 with people on this forum when I'm here, but I dont name call or question people's intelligence or anything of that sort. I just argue and debate.

I do see this, though, and I can imagine people eventually overstep their boundaries and get timed out for it. I dont know if thats what he got put on probation for, but that seems to be a common theme around here; especially from older posters. The people here can be a bit elitist.

Because I've had posts edited myself, but never been timed out or put on probation and Ive been here off and on a long time and spend most of my time in arguments while I'm actually here, lol.

Bruh, the second link I shared was of a troll post whose responses were almost all of people attacking the poster. Last I checked none of them have been 'timed out' for that. And since you're basing your impressions on personal anecdotes, I've been on these forums for years as well, without being put on probation. But when it did finally happen more recently, guess what it was for? Hint: Not for arguing a lot or attacking anyone either directly or indirectly. They've been clamping down on these forums in recent times, and it has nothing to do with a sudden discovery of concern and empathy for their fellow man. There are things it correlates with, but I'm not allowed to discuss it cos of those very policies.

Btw, Reddit has mods too, but moderation there is typically very different from how it's carried out here. For one thing, they periodically do stuff like this - https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/guzkjy/policy_discussion_final_open_letter_and_summary/

I don't recall any months long type probations until fairly recently. Not sure why the moderators started doing that? When I first saw it I thought maybe the person had gotten into with the moderators or something but, then it has become much more common and so I'm not sure why the moderators decided to start applying these really long probations, any clues anyone?
Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!
obviously the new discussion rules. if you constantly skirt around politics, religion and whatnot it's simply easier to have you gone than to keep you around. regardless of reasons, ggg has drawn a VERY hard line on certain topics and you can now get suspended easier by going against this rule than calling someone retarded to the face.

from what i remember, boem's posts have a tone that's very unwanted now, unless he drastically changed his posting style in recent times.
