My final tribute to Charan's Sword (#27 farmed to = the number of Rebirth cards needed for an OG)

Here I am, sitting at my gaming rig, practicing good social distancing in real life and in PoE. GGG made it easy to social distance myself in PoE. They just keep raising the endgame grind hp and dps of bosses, lower the rewards for doing endgame grinds, and increase the already complex PoE mathematics system with cluster jewels. And for many years now playing solo has been the norm as party play performance just plain sucks where I live. So what does a poor filthy player such as I do? Simple, I write off Delirium League, but instead of just sitting out the 3 months I switch to other games such as Path of Diablo (4 player party for great retro arpg fun), play World of WarPlanes (no mental gymnastics required), and even start into Eve Online and now GTA V (got it while it was free). My favorite super casual game atm is WoWP, because I can start a battle, jump over to PoE and do a TSB run, and jump back to WoWP just before the match starts so I have no wait time. Perfect gaming combo for me. With 1 TSB beach run per WoWP match it does take time to get to level 8, but what the hell, I'm not grinding maps to level 90 this league so I've got plenty of time until the league ends in June. To that end I was getting severely burned out on grinding for Charan's Sword straight up in a 3 or 4 exile rotation, but with only 1 exile to casually grind burnout is alleviated.

To that end here I am once again doing the OG grind when I was sure last league that I'd quit doing this. Never say never. Hmmm... must be the Aspi nature of doing a repetitive task, especially when there is 0 danger of being 1 shot, the sound of the waves lapping on the shore is soothing, and jogging on the beach is great exercise. To my surprise when I got my 2nd Oni-Goroshi this league and checked my total I was at 26 so with a month left in Delirium and many more WoWP matches to play, the logical thing to do is keep grinding for another OG and achieve my PoE goal of 27 for a final grand honer to Charan, aka Ruler of Wraeclast, aka Foreverhappychan. This final post is for you.

Once again I throw down the gauntlet and take up the call/grind to find Uber Hillock on the Twilight Strand Beach. Doing this now feels like a bad Twilight Zone episode where I'm caught in a time loop experiencing the same events over and over again. My first UH encounter in Delirium came at level 8.48, but my 2nd UH didn't come easy and I ended up with another Twilight Strand Level 9 Beach Club member at level 9.06. That should have red flagged any more beach running for me this league but oh no, I don't want to wait 1 to 2 minutes for another WoWP match to start, so I used an old OG farmer now in Standard to look for Uber Hillock.

The weeks come and go, the beach runs mount up, and still no UH. No matter how hard I call for UH he's a no show. Level 8.25, 8.50, 8.75... nothing but his extrovert twin brother with a stupid rusty sword in his chest. Damn it not another TSL9BC member again... SIGH! Just when all hope is lost after about 2 dozen runs today I catch sight of the hilt of the OG sticking out of UH at level 8.86 and the dance of death commences once again.

As a witch the first half of the battle is easy-peazy, it's all ranged fireballs. Turns out that after 26 UH battles it's all easy now and I can do the UH kill pretty much AFK with any exile. In reality though since the melee changes made in Legion league the melee exiles are actually easier for killing UH. Nevertheless, my witch will burn him to death.

You poor UH, let me stop your suffering with a swift kill:

And now for my 27th Oni-Goroshi Sword:

85% crit is quite good but after 2 previous swords of 88% and 89% this league 85% is now pretty ho-hum. And of course this is Standard league so it's only for achieving OG sword #27 so it doesn't matter what the % crit chance is.

With it taking 27 Rebirth divination cards to get 1 sword it is only fitting as a final parting grand gesture farewell to Charan to grind out 27 Oni-Goroshi Swords.




This time it is truly the end of my beach grinding days.

Arrowneous, that is quite the accomplishment! Over 1 tab full of Oni-Goroshi swords! I'm sure you have the record for the most. Only 69 more swords to go to fill up a quad tab! :-)

Why didn't you do this completely in SSF though?
Not meaning to take anything away from you but can't anyone just buy those swords and make a post like this?

Those don't include the ones equipped on characters or sold since I started farming last year.

Don't want to derail the thread but it belongs in item display subforum. And all that oni's makes my head spin.

Bravo for such dedicated farming and to Charan who made it possible. Uber Hillock is a wonder and fun to fight. I hope he has a place in POE 2.
