PoE breaks my 5GHz wifi connection
Hey!
Recently I got new internet 600/120mbps, so I bought new router with 2.4 & 5 GHz wifi. I have pretty weird problem with PoE (and ONLY with this game). When I open PoE and hit log in button, after 5-10s it says "unable to connect to login server" then I lose my internet. It happens every single time when I hit log in button while I'm connected to 5GHz wifi, everything runs fine whem I'm on 2.4GHz, I was in game for 30min+ on 2.4GHz just to check if it's fine. To be more specific, there are two wifi in my router: Home 2.4 and Home 5. After lost connection due to PoE, I have to manually swap it to 2.4GHz and back to 5GHz to restore my internet connection. It happens only in PoE, everything else is fine, Guild Wars 1 and 2, Elder Scrolls Online, etc. I have fresh (like 2 days after installation) standalone PoE and also pretty clean windows (3-4 weeks maybe), everything up to date. It's decent MSi gaming laptop and I'm sure that my intel AC9462 can use 5GHz wifi. My powerplan is set to high performance, in advanced -> wifi settings - max performance. In my network card settings i set: Preferred band - 5GHz Roaming aggressivness - lowest Transmit power - highest MIMO pover save mode - no SMPS I have no idea what else can I do. 2.4GHz bottleneck is ~150mbps for all devices connected to wifi, so if any1 else watch netflix etc. my connection is limited and my ping spikes. " well firstly GGG have said several times that the PoE client is not happy with WIFI connection. But to solve your problem, you will have to start by install the latest VENDOR driver for your wifi card on the laptop + make sure the AP are running the latest firmware. |
|
is there any error in the router's logfile?
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

My card drivers and router/modem firmware are up to date.
I recorded how it looks like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eCw51xcJ8M Sorry for 10fps, but I had to record it via intelHD, game runs in 60fps for me, don't worry. |

Its all down to being GGG`s fault and the crap optimization of the game.
POE completely throttles the CPU and the Graphics card. This issue is happening all over POE. Like you have said it doesnt happen in any other game. Its just POE`s crap optimization, but many are trying to blame it on the wi-fi which is complete nonsense. Last edited by wi5pa1#1100 on May 26, 2020, 6:10:58 PM

" noone is forcing you to use any of their software or services.... :=) |

" It would be alot more helpful if you stopped trying to blame the users ISP provider or wi-fi, and just admit that it is a GGG issue that they need to fix. |

" Problem with local modem, so not a GGG problem --> https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2860669/page/2 Again a local / ISP problem --> https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2859563 Local ISP problem --> https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2856177 |

" You seem to fail to understand its not the local ISP, its caused by POE. If it was a local ISP issue then it would happen on other games. Im just fed up of seeing crap advice on the forums thats blaming every player or thier hardware/ISP/Wi-fi/ etc etc, when its a game issue, The game is causing the issue. It would be more helpful if you started to understand this and help push the developers into fixing it for everyone. |

" I'm just fed up of seeing crap apologists on the forums, who blame GGG every time, even when there are clear evidence(s) of "user's end\ISP" issues Now tell me, clever boy (or girl, whatever), WHOSE FAULT IS IT: ? GGG's?? I have more similar cases but too lazy to link them all here Remember, suffering is convenient.
That is why many people prefer it. Happiness requires effort. |
