Changes to the Atlas of Worlds in Path of Exile: Delirium
" Could not agree more! ... I almost NEVER post on anything and I am more than casual but ... even I had fun playing in 3.9 for the obvious reason and reading that made me lol in the office! Let me repeat ... got too many maps?! go vendor them and stfu. :D ... who the hell came up with that crap idea now anyways...?! This change sucks already big time, sorry GGG! |

Having to complete specific maps in order to progress sounds unpleasant - I don't think people enjoy waiting for maps to drop. It's slightly nice to be able to choose, but the drawback of requiring specific maps seems to overwhelm the upside.
Also, having spent a lot of time on Standard in the last few months with farming 26 Awakened bonus objectives, and a lot of regular bonus objectives, can't say I'm keen on losing all the progress. I am very interested in the upcoming dev manifesto, maybe there's a good reason for this? Maybe they're assuming that people enjoy grinding? (I dislike grinding, but I've often heard other people like it) |

1. Multiplying the grind to spawn Sirus is a huge mistake.
You're changing it from RNG to deterministic yet multiplying the amount of maps required. This is essentially not changing anything as the median number of maps required to spawn Sirus in 3.9 with RNG included is now essentially the same as you're now changing it to. 2. You are actually discouraged from finishing maps completely as you're only farming taunts. Are you going to address the issue where I can just zone into a map, clear a few packs, check for the taunt and then leave the map without finishing it? This is what people were doing in 3.9, myself included. I would open a white T14 map, spawn influence, leave immediately, then run tier 1 white maps doing the same method of joining/leaving without finishing just to proc the citadel. This is a major problem with end game. It feels like you're just farming citadel procs and not actually enjoying the end game. MAJOR POINT: There is no incentive to farm Sirus by running pure T16 maps. This is the biggest problem. The end game should be, farming T16 maps all the way through to spawning Sirus. Each map should 100% proc the taunt/influence. Require 3 maps per citadel, requiring a total of twelve T16 maps to spawn Sirus. That is more than fair. Require that you kill the map boss to get completion would also be fair. 3. DO NOT NERF MAP DROPS: Map sustain in 3.9 was incredibly awesome. ALL of the previous leagues you would plateau at T10 maps and hit a RNG wall requiring you to buy higher tier maps to start snowballing your map pool. 3.9 eliminated this problem by dropping maps very frequently. You should leave this alone and keep it as it is in 3.9. People do NOT want to experience the map pool dry out at T10, it is very discouraging and you've probably lost a lot of player retention because of it in previous leagues. | |
" Truth I just checked on the Path of Exile community and I'm over the moon to see the response to Harvest! Even when you're super confident in a launch, you're always afraid people will hate it or something terrible will happen. It's such a relief and a joy to see how happy everyone is! - Bex 20 Jun 2020

the Only positive thing i can take from this Announcement is the atlas reset in standard.
It means: i do not keep my Awaken Bonus Objective Count from the Current League that will turn into something fully punishing and literally Character raping effect. |

" Sorry, but fun was detected. "Path of Exile's engine is currently modern, lean and fast." - Chris Wilson, September 19th, 2019
"It looks like we broke something with 3.10.0. We don't know what it is yet." - Bex, March 16th, 2020 |

" What you are naming are some of the issues/symptoms of the way new Atlas system was introduced in 3.9. GGG is absolutely killing taunt farming on low tier maps because in order to get map completion you have to kill its boss or clear large % of monsters in a map. We also do not know yet what map will count for completion, it is possible they will only count if they are present on your current Atlas-this would completely kill the system (GGG has tendency to go overboard on nerfs and even their changes to make things more attractive actually nerf stuff so I'm worried). Taunt hunting in 3.9 is also a problematic because you do not have enough T1 maps because they no longer drop from maps. I run my Atlas on Awakened level 8 this means only map that drop below T14 are from boxes or metamorphs. My biggest source of T1 maps is Lost Maps prophecy... (I have countless amount of T14+ maps but I have may 6 overall T1 maps). All in all, map sustain when you are in 14x/14x Atlas bonus range is great, however, getting to that stage takes a long time and it will be even harder come 3.10 by the sound of what GGG posted today. I'm not looking forward to the grind in 3.10. As a result, I'm not going to buy support pack until the league arrives and we get more information. If Delirium is buggy or not to my linking, I'm not going to buy new packs as I do not want to reward GGG for not doing good job. |

The monopoly of map vendors is grateful. Get ready guys, another bad league comes around |

We'll also be removing the "x% chance for Maps to drop one tier higher" bonus from Awakening Bonus Objectives. RIP those who supported GGG by buying delirium supporter packs |
