SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH
Yup, this boss event is absolute hot garbage. It's so bad you think they contracted DE to make it.
Sirus needs some major rework. ASAP.

Well, I've read tons about this fight. I've been slowly progressing my atlas up and building my map pool. In no mad hurry this time around for this league. In previous leagues as a reference point I should add that whilst never grinding to 100 I have killed Uber Elder many, many times deathless. I'm not one of the elite rich players, but I would consider myself fairly average and knowledgeable with PoE now....

So, I finally got to try this fabled Sirus "fight" today. Before going in, I read tons, and watched about 6 youtubes on it from "experts", over and over again.

And......

Yeah, right. Despite knowing, in theory, what I "should" be trying to do, this was easily the most stupid encounter in pretty much ANY game I've ever played online. That's saying something. This was quite easily worse than some of the hardcore raiding that I used to do back in the day in a few other games. The signals for abilities were terrible, the visuals easily the worst in any encounter ever (I couldn't make out one thing from another), the area and ground effects visibility, yet another lazy programming invulnerability mechanic (yawn), the storms, etc etc.

Simply put, the list of stupid things in this fight are way too numerous to list, and have already been mentioned over and over again by many other people. I used up 5 portals on Awakening level 0, got absolutely zero enjoyment from the futility and then just gave up on even bothering any more.

Rather than annoying myself further, I just resolved to go back to playing normally in maps and enjoying the game. Suffice to say I won't be bothering with this encounter again, unless it is almost completely reworked. I can only assume that the same genius who dreamt up Synthesis also came up with this encounter, although this "fight" makes the whole Synthesis league look epic.

I will say this about it though, there is ONE good thing about the Sirus encounter:- you can skip it entirely and still play the league.
I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG.
Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes.
Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control!
List of my thoughts. I'm far from experienced at this fight (partially due to the time gate) so I could be wrong about these things so please tell me if I'm overlooking things.

Rough Edges

- Poor visibility. Zone looks similar to the ground effects, the often indistinct visual cues, etc. Really unfun but the fixes seems clear (maybe expensive/slow to create assets though).

- Chaos storms having a bigger hitbox than their visual. This is another unfun thing in my opinion; it's a surprise, but not the "surprise and delight" kind of surprise. You watch a video instead of playing the game and learn that's why you lost half your health while seemingly not running into the things. In general, a theme of a lot of these things are going to be that it's not great to have to learn how to play the game by doing something other than playing the game.

- Chaos storms camping the entrance to the zone. This feels super bad and sometimes seems out of the player's control. I'm not sure how in control the player is, but I think part of the problem is you get maybe one shot every 10 hours to find out (via playing the game). Yucky.

- RNG of storms in general? Again, I'm not actually sure how RNG this is, since it's hard to experiment with it given the infrequency and high initial challenge of the fight, but it seems like there are sometimes instances where minions aggro him or he casts storms after you die where it's hard to see where you could influence things. If it is in the player's control, then maybe part of the problem is it's difficult to tell.

- As a player trying to learn the fight within the game, how are you supposed to know that he is invincible until you run right underneath him? There doesn't seem to be much room for experimentation, which I'll get to in a second, so you inevitably have to hit youtube or whatever and leave the game.

Bigger Design Issues

- Lack of learning curve. Compounds the rough edges from above. No practice. A lot of what makes POE special is the nice flow state it puts the player in by gradually heating up the difficulty as they make progress. The earlier maps are not radically different than the later maps, so they train the player for the later encounters. Same goes for the conquerors, master missions, delve, etc. It's clearly a big design philosophy in the game. And it's supremely fun.

This encounter seems to contradict that pillar -- you start off in the deep end, you only have 1-6 attempts to learn the fight (depending on if you get locked out by the chaos storm), the above rough edges like visibility make it stressful to try and learn it within the game, and you get maybe 1 attempt every 10 hours of play time. Thank god they made the encounter something you open up by just playing the game -- if it were something that you had to go out of your way to unlock and it had all of these seeming issues, I am not exaggerating that I would probably just ignore the content and stick with the fun stuff. So good job there. It does make me realize that Sirus sort of feels like my routine punishment for playing the game though, heh.

Maybe players are supposed to unslot their watchstones on their first attempt and attempt to calibrate the difficulty of the fight by lowering the awakening level significantly before hand? Not sure how much that helps. If it does, that's great but since it's kind of easy to faceroll stuff leading up to Sirus, there isn't a lot of clues in the game that this is a thing you are expected to do.

- Learning how to play the game by not playing the game. The limited opportunities, lack of learning curve ramp, poor visibility/cues/feedback in the fight itself, etc encourage spending significantly more time watching others play the game than playing it to make the best of your one shot at the encounter. This admittedly might be a matter of preference. Some people probably really enjoy studying a fight by watching a lot of youtube content and streamers, outside of the game. I prefer designs that encourage learning the game by trial and error within the game itself. It may not be apples to apples, but I think this is kind of aligned with GGG's philosophy of keeping trading within the game and not completely on an auction site, etc -- they don't want you closing the client and doing something else in order to "play the game" and I think this is similar.

TL;DR: Learning this fight seems atypical of POE. The rest of POE is fun to learn; a big fun adventure in learning by doing. At it's worst, feels like periodic punishment for making progress within the game due to need to close the game and watch videos/forums to prepare for your next go.
This league and rework have honestly been so good, but the Sirus fight is a grotesque caricature of what fights should look like, it's tough for all the wrong reasons, 1 death is brick, why even have 6 portals.

Maybe if you could fight him more than once every 40-60 maps it would be one thing, but for me, this is where it ends, other tough fights have made me want to come back for more after failure, but this one is demoralizing on a whole other level. I get that people have done it, but that's a stupid argument, especially considering most of the ones saying they beat it also agree that it sucks. The point is to be fun, this fight misses the mark in a way that is indescribably bad. The idea that actual human beings made this fight and did it, and thought yea this is fine afterward is a testament to the power of groupthink.

absolutely pathetic. This company has proven that it can do better, but ultimately made the decision not to, which only makes it sadder. I am done for now, there are plenty of other challenging titles like MHW Iceborne's PC release on the horizon to fill the void while GGG decides if it wants to clean up the diaper it thoroughly soiled with this end boss, if they want PoE 2 to be truly competitive with other ARPG titles coming out in the next year or two they will have to do better, they have a large enough team now to do so.
I always sucked at PoE but I wanted to give it a real good shot this time.. after all this time I finally get to sirus and I can't even get to see him :\. I wanted to figure it out on my own without help because I like doing that, but after all my portals were gone I still have no idea what is going on! I died to seemingly nothing about 3 times, and I don't know what the other times. For how hard he is to spawn, this is really depressing.. I have never even gotten to one of the PoE end game bosses, and I finally get there this league and I don't even get to see the boss; this fight is really not fun and I don't like the direction PoE is going with the "just dodge a ton of stuff the whole fight, defenses are pointless because you'll get 1 shot anyway".

I thought AARPG was supposed to be about building your character and making him stronger and better, but every boss I done is just "keep moving or you get one shot" and that's not really fun. And I won't even be able to get any of the good items because if I can't see the boss, no way I will ever kill it.

The game is getting so complicated too, why does every single previous league stuff have to stay in the game? there's too much to do and I don't even know what routes to take to reach my goals for the game right now.. All of my friends who tried this game they just say it is way too complicated and they quit? I get that PoE is supposed to be a "deep" game but it can be deep without being so complicated you have to be a genius to play it. I really want to progress in this game and get better at everything. farming good items, leveling, making builds, bossing, but it just seems to get harder and harder and harder and with everything I learn, there is twice as much added for me to learn again. I feel like I need some help playing this game :\ really frustrated right now sorry for the long rant post.
