Ya lets spend thousands of dollars and waste staff time/resources to make something 99% of players don't care about!! Ya lets not!

can you provide any proofs about 99%? if no, you just a windbag dude.

ability to play male and female versions of any class should be a basic option in any rpg game. period.

If you really care that much go play a different game if that option doesn't suite you then i have another idea called GET OVER IT!

If you think its a bad idea you are more than welcomed to say so in this thread and i will welcome your feedback but the way you were going about it both in your quote there and current post is just disrespectful, Chill out and remember the world consists of a lot of people that are not you.

I did not make this thread for myself as I'll live without having my male witch even if it would offer me slightly more immersion it is about making it more attractive to those who do care more about such things as selecting their gender.

In the last couple years i have played a variety of modern RPG/MMORPG/ARPG and what i have observed people doing and their attitudes about different things has led me to believe this game is lacking in certain areas and a good deal of my threads have been about them, The true goal of all of those threads including this one is to bring more players to path of exile and retain them for longer.

For the reasons you're stating I'm absolutely 100% against it. Keep identity politics out of this game.

It's almost 2020

Not an argument.

"
• Immersion

The game has never been about immersion, it's about hacking and slashing, looting and theorycrafting builds.

"
• Bringing in players who would have otherwise not given your game a fair shake.

Main draw of the game is complexity and dungeon crawling. If a gender option pushes you over the edge you're in the wrong game.

"
• Attracting players to classes they might otherwise not have played.

Classes are never played for this reason. They are played for prefered playstyle and build.

"
• Playing the same class again on the other gender just to experience their take on Wraeclast.

Gender wouldn't change "their take on Wraeclast" since it would have the same stats, same amount of passives etc. So I don't know what you mean by this.

"
• Inspiring build diversity because a lot of people do tend to build around this in RPG's

Not even true in RPG's, but even more so in this type of hack'n'slash. Classes aren't build around their looks or lore, they are built around prefered playstyles and optimzed builds.

"
• Boosting MTX sales because people might like how their MTX looks on another gender better.

Valid and good point, I'd prefer these sorts of MTX's over the rainbow disco stuff we have now.

"
• I bet you'd sell a lot of character slots :)

Not anymore than now, since once again, characters aren't rolled because of looks and lore.

"
• This would get you a fair amount of attention across a lot of platforms.

No, it wouldn't. It would get PoE 5 minutes of attention from feminists and wouldn't even bring in any new players since it's too complex for most of them.

"
• The community would love you for it

No. GGG would only get more arbitrary unprofitable "suggestions" in the name of identity politics.

"
• Profit??!?

Not profitable nor productive.

There is just no good reason for this. Gender is irrelevant in this game.

The only identity politics here is in your post itself mentioning feminism among other things which i did not bring up in my topic and this topic is not about at least not in the OP, I'm a male wishing to play a male witch sometimes and a female witch others and so on for all the other classes.

It may not interest you to see these changes and also might not affect you in the slightest but there are a lot of people who would benefit on several levels by this addition primarily when it comes to immersion.

People can use this "hack n slash" "ARPG" term to label this game but its much broader than just that as it fulfills the roles of Sandbox and other RPG related terms including MMORPG which should be quite clear to you since you tossed around the term "theorycrafting" earlier in your post and whatever term you choose to use this game has a significant amount of player agency when it comes to customization of your characters abilities.

This is just asking for some icing on the cake, Perhaps you prefer an unfrosted cake and by all means that is your right.

I personally prefer unfrosted doughnuts over frosted ones.

Isn't it what we already have, an immersive game where "melee" characters are male and "range/caster" are female. Am I missing something here?
its almost 2020. All you have to do is just identify as whatever gender you want to be. Works in the real world :p

That is an entirely different conversation one i will not be actively trying to jump into in this particular thread.

I'd just like to be able to play a male witch and feel like a dude when im playing my necro, If that making me more immersed is lost on you then im afraid having further conversation with you on the topic will be fruitless.

Plenty of others would also find immersion in this addition and immersion is something this game needs desperately.

I never once thought to myself....I want a male laura croft, cause I want to feel like a dude. I actually can't ever remember NOT feeling like a dude.

What customization does that game have? Its a single player game and most definitely not a sandbox RPG designed around near endless amounts of player choice.

All my years of gaming and yet these threads are still out there....Too funny.

Bottom line, more choices in a game is never a bad thing and there has always been a player base in games that refuse to RP the opposite gender.

Two things I find beyond stupid.

1. Arguing with said player that it's their duty to just suck it up and do it.
2. Programmers that Pigeon Hole a Player base into that decision.

But hey, their loss...Just have to wonder how much $ is lost due to such a simple programming choice....
