Probably my last update on this.
I tried a Feared invitation and couldnt clear it due to being no-exposure and extra monster life and just playing poorly in general. Asking one last time to see if I am doing anything severely wrong with the build. Yesterday I failed to kill Redeemer Veritania on an unidentified corrupted version - I suspect it was one of the mods that made her invincible (she recharged ES to full every time she vanished and I couldn't bring down the ES before her vanish...). On the other hand, I never killed her before :P But other endgame bosses were rather easy up to now. | |
" Wow, that’s a very difficult Feared. No exposure and monster life makes them very tanky. Crit chance&multi, phys as cold and 60% less recover means they can kill you easily. The best way to clear Feared is to have high DPS because you must kill the first or both of them before the rest are spawned. Even for “Normal” Feared I’d recommend 5mil Sirus DPS minimum maybe less if you’re a good player. With those mods you had, I’d think you’ll need 20mil Sirus DPS to be safe. My current DPS setup now have total 30miL total DPS with punishment, take a look for some inspiration. Don’t follow exactly though because I dropped most defence (including discipline) but still have 50-60k armor and 88% all ele res. I’m lvl100 so it’s ok to die. As for gear, I’ll suggest awakened lvl5 ele focus (2ex) which will give you 15% DPS. Lvl4 empower (6ex), another 10-15% DPS, +2 Duration Shav (10ex for 25% DPS), in those order and get all of you have enough budget. If you have another 100ex doing nothing in the stash then get a +4 (duration & AOE) Shav or +2/+1 socketed Shav (50% DPS compared to a normal shav). Your sapphire ring has crafted life which doesn't really help, can craft mana or non-channeling skill has -ve mana cost instead. Your crystal belt only has 2 mods and you don't even need the str from it. You can spam Dex essences (so you can save 1/2 points from tree) on it and hopefully get chaos res and ES. If you have a bit more budget, get a aegis Aurora with +1 socketed gem or aura gem then switch tempest shield with clarity, get a lvl21 arrogance. You’ll save a lot of mana that way so you can spec out from tree and invest elsewhere. I usually aim for 200 mana so I won’t hear “I need more mana!” I made some adjustment to your POB (did you follow my POB? looks like mine LOL) for your consideration. Main thing I noticed is that you have way too much ele res and str, I spec out of Practical application and took another dex node, saves 2 point. I also replace the cluster with disorienting display because blind don't do anything now if you have no evasion. I spec into another large cluster for more slots for cobalt jewel (try to get %spell dmg while holding shield or % cold dmg instead of % DOT, those goes up to 16%). I also got more mana and ES regen for you. Zealot oath didn't do anything because there's no life regen to convert. I did most endgame stuff without the "monsters gain x life as energy shield' mod. That mod is the only one that prevents me from doing the endgame bosses (exarch/eater). I can do most mods on shaper guards/conquerors/elder/even uber content (minus wave 30 simulacrum, haven't tried) Thank you to Hadc for looking through my Pob. Much appreciated! I definitely took ideas from yours! I have convinced some friends to play your version of the build and they are loving it :) Also, thank you for clarifying how hard that Feared is. I feel less bad about it then. Good thing I am level 100 as well, so I don't mind the occassional death as long as I can learn from it. I just feel like all my deaths from now on are from trying to push rippy mods. Glad to hear that Feared is hard and I guess I did roll pretty unlucky on the vaal orb xD Thanks again for the build and ideas! |

" You’re welcome, glad you’re enjoying it. Once you get enough DPS you can do “extra life as ES” too. The only mods I can’t do is no regen. If I rolled ele reflect on a good map I’ll use “no reflect sextant”, so keep some of those when rolling sextants 🙂 | |

What is the verdict on Wintertide Brand vs regular Vortex / Cold Snap? Looking at https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds, seems majority of players chose Vortex / Cold Snap. The only real split is between Aegis Aurora and Prism Guardian.

" Wintertide is great leveling and league starter but lacks a lot of single target damage scaling potential in endgame compared to Vortex/Cold Snap. Prism Guardian lets you fit in more dps auras but is the less defensive and inferior shield option honestly. |

" Cool stuff Don, have you tried divergent frostbite with awakened blasphemy? I use it with profane bloom, the curse almost cover the whole screen with heart of destruction. It’s 50% to freeze with hit if using 30% qual ashes of star. Can go up to 74% with lvl 4 Enhance. Couple with Anomalous Hypothermia the freeze chance should be really high 🙂 |
