Upcoming Improvements to Blight

Blighted Map performance. Honestly, the most realistic way we're going to get this to acceptable levels is to slightly reduce the number of monsters being spawned. We're going to be very careful to make sure that the encounters are still hectic, fun and rewarding, but it'll probably involve slightly fewer entities being tracked and rendered.


As a whole the game has a lot of issues with massive fps drops when you hit a large pack/abyss/normal blight/breach/harbinger with a fast hitting attack or spell and there needs to eventually be a global reduction on mob size offset by increased exp gain per mob because poe is getting worse performance wise every patch for many players.

While I love instantly shatteirng 68 mobs in .1 seconds, the server and my pc does not and dropping to half my fps each time this happens is far worse than slightly reduced pack size globally.

ME = Ultimately, I'm disappointed... Slightly in GGG's vision is probably close to none existent. Slightly is what like 5%? This won't do anything really. If they would reduce the clusterf*ck of monsters by like 30-40%, make the mobs harder maybe and as someone mentioned reduce tower nodes amount and make them stronger this might do something performance wise.

Anyways they had to test it properly during the development on a wider range of systems, maybe like closer to mid tier and also high tier. Then enter a busy blighted map and check the performance on both. From there they could easily tune the amount of sh*t on screen to a satisfactory level and avoid stupid problems that are now reported.

They have let down a good chunk of their customers and it only says that they unfortunately didn't care how it's gonna run. I even wanted to buy more tabs this league but not anymore, try harder next league GGG. :( Maybe it will serve them as a lesson for the future.

Can we PLEASE get Volatile Dead targetting issue fixed?

After seeing SRS fix i was hoping VD will come this week, i guess it wont :(

Why would you turn tower defense into hoard mode with necromancer towering on a pile of corpses like a god damn Doomslayer? Just stop the encounter each minute (or when you kill a certain amount of enemy) for at least 20s, like every single god damn tower defense game. Then, you can spawn even more monsters, erg better rewards.

Thanks for having a look at these issues, GGG, but didn't you see this coming?

I hardly belief that these performance issues were not identified when implementing the leagues core mechanics. Maybe too optimistic? Maybe too rushy? Definitly courageous.

Please, continue in improving your quality management. The smooth start of the league is indeed an noteworthy achievement and something to build upon.



Let's hope Blight can be fixed before it is flushed in tears of anger and frustation...

what about bugged textures everywhere? even in labyrinth sometimes textures disapear, feelings like on private server now.

The problem game faces is that there is just to many possibilities. Number of monsters is not the problem to a degree but the number of things game has to process. According to Jonathan there are about 9000 calculations for every single hit. They need to do something about THAT or reducing number of monster will be just band aid.

i like this idea tbh anything that helps performance excluding the lowering of monsters cause im enjoying the madness

it is a race kill them quick enough and place your towers near portals so you dont have stupid amount on your screen works for me lol

at moment im fine in those maps , it is only when im failing or playing it with a buddie that i get fps issues in blighted maps

The reward scaling should be done NOW not next week, 1st weekend after your launch now with Borderlands 3 launching also and all the weekend players that are coming back will see nothing Major changed and probably drop the league completely for either B3 or continue WOW. Its a shame since the league mechanic is quite nice apart from rewards.
