Announcing Path of Exile: Blight

Why would you do this?

Even labyrinth is an insult to the core of this game, where you put stupid platfom mechanics into an ARPG game.

Then yo came up with other 'mini games' which have nothing to do with this game.

Are you trying to proof something? That your designers are awesome? Your programmers are the best? That they can integrate anything to POE?

POE is an action RPG, please keep it that way. Do you really belive that people would like a 'tower defence' game? ... Have you ever played a tower defence game before? Do you know how much it gets boring even after a few games?

Please do something better. You Have the brain ( hi chris) you have the power.

Improvements to the game are amazing by the way.

Possibly, just possibly, your gaming preferences are not universal.

In fact, given the popularity of Tower Defence games, I'd venture to suggest that there's considerable evidence to suggest the notion that they aren't.

But whether Tower Defence crossed with ARPG will work well, that's the question. And we are about to find out. Ruling it out before trying it, however, seems such a defeatist attitude.
Scionic Flametank 3.2: The classic ES-CI-ZO-GR regeneration tank is back in business, stronger than ever before with 50-60% ES/s recovery during most fights due to creative use of regeneration, leech, and recovery mechanics

Starting with the woer defense league mechanics. This is a terrible idea. It is very clear the Devs didn't knew what to do and the league was a second thought to all of the background work being done, even so it stands out like a sore thumb.

Firstly the towers have to be upgraded while we are fighting the enemy waves. What does this means? well, unless we are MLG champion levels of APM, we really cannot focus on having defenses always up and running while we are fighting the mobs.

So they should do breaches all time till the end of time. Why is it terrible idea, just becouse u have to upgrade them while fighting? Who said that u have to? maybe ull need to upgrade 1 or 2 not all of them, besides they will probably freeze, kill, stun enemys so u shouldnt have much problem with upgrading few from time to time. Who said that in end game when your char will deal tons of damage ull even need a single tower? I hope the encounter will be chalenging to point where ull actually need them even with strong char, but dont jump into crazy, ull have to be god and upgrade all towers at once, conclusion. Its a bit too early for that.
I like the league idea, it seems a bit complex, a lot of possible combinations and synergies. If the encounter wont be too long it should be fun.

Secondly, where this league seeks to alleviate the problem of content that forces you to stop to do other content, this mechanic forces you to stop doing your map to play a tower defense game. It couldn't get any more anacronistic than this!

Breach, legion and many others forced u to stop doing map for that encounter and it was and is fine, the change will make it that u wont have to stop every 2 steps for different thing.

The bigger issue however is, that people don't necessarely like certain content. Maybe they don't like delve (I hate it almost as much as lab which is yet another forced content with "perma death" mechanic which is also anacronistic in softcore) or maybe they don't like incurson and so on. Well, regardless of when they do it, people feel FORCED to do it because the rewards missed are too good! What people want is not a simple case of choosing when to engage with content but what content to engage with without being punished for skipping certain content. It's good to be spoiled for choice, but only when it's choice and not a do this or you'll miss out!

What are u talking about? Missing on too good rewards? If u focus on 1/2 secondary content and on main content itll be better than running halfass all of possible content. So u can skip delve and run temple and beasts and maps and ull earn money. I have a group of friends that do runs on beasts and they earn shitload of exs and they dont do delve much or at all.
Rewards form different content is different and i dont see why someone should be rewarded with fossils or league specific uniques or whatever if they dont do specific content. So ye maybe u miss some rewards but u got other and as i mentioned if u focus on few things ull be able to earn a lot and buy what u need.

On a side note since I'm talking about gameplay rewards. It is high time that GGG recognised the deep rooted issue that is the economy in PoE. Yes, the flippers will tell it's ok. They control the market after all. Yes the very good players will tell you it's ok, they make douzens of ex in a day so prices for them literally do not matter. Yes streamers will tell you it's ok, Most of them are on the very good level and many receive plenty of handouts so what do they care? But what above the other 90% of your playerbase? You know, the core that makes you exist in your current state as a very successful company? Fact is, the majority of players can't get a full build because they are too expensive. There is a very good reason why the majority of the playerbase is here for every new league but anywhere from 2 weeks in to a month the leagues start feeling dead as a lot of players leave the game and the market takes a hit due to the lack of item influx which yet drives the prices further up. The average players has 2 or 3 hours to play a day. They are not very good at the game, they are ok, but that's not enough to farm currency for their builds or the next they wanted to try, they may recognise some valuable rares at glance but most won't.

Currency flippers are annoying and a bit of the problem i agree. But i dont see problem with items, some are expensive and its due to the fact that there are either few of them or are hard to obtain (starforge, voidforg etc.) and power they provide is significant. And sure price of some items are going hiher and lower but thats mostly due to amount of currency ppl have at the time, prices go up at the first few days of the league then they stay or drop, occasionelly they go even hiher, depend of meta and accessibility of specific item. I think u are making mountain out of rock.

An so on and so forth. This needs a solution because right now, PoE is being able to maintain the player base even with this kind of economy. Some people quit and come back like me. Some people quit forever like almost all of my freinds. Some people come in to try a game they didn't knew. For now the new players are what keeps the player base stable and healty, but eventually there will be enough bad rep that people will not even bother to try PoE. It's time to nip this problem on the bud. The answers to this are simple. If all orbs without exception can be bought, you cannot flip currency anymore. If items get tagged for something like a year where they cannot be sold for more than that were bought then items are not easy to flip at all. More importantly this allows you to create a market (not auction house) where people can easily buy and sell stuff which will not mess the economy of the game because flippers ceased to be an issue. Add to this an actually good crafting system where you chose all 6 affixes on the item (at lower levels than what can be rolled but at good enough levels that can get you started in farming) and you got a much better system in play. Reguardless of how, right now, this is the biggest issue (albeit far from the only one) that PoE faces).

Wow..thats just..ok..so ppl quit poe becous of economy, i heard new ppl who didnt get into poe complaining about wood mechanics, crafting and building being too complex, game being boring etc but i didnt heard any newbie ranting economy.
Buying cheaper and selling higher is essence of economy not only in poe but irl too. Your friends and others that quit poe because they cant recogonize if item is valuable or not or sometimes item change its value depending on shaping meta. So your solution to that is absolutely annihilate trading. "...they cannot be sold for more than that were bought.." Items go from garbage to sometimes buildenabling and u want me to sell them for max 1 alch, yes that would keep players. There wouldnt be problem with economy because there wouldnt be one.
Idea with orbs seems interesting tho. But if im not mistaken, ratio is better on market than with vendors.

Mines change... You addressed one core problem which was having to set them at your feet, The other problem is detonation. Why are builds like contagion not popular? Because no one wants to press 2 keys in order to perform what pressing a single key should do! It's not good action economy, the players will ALWAYS feel that it is clunky. Sure you've created a pet that detonates mines. Problem number one being when do you get that pet? is it early? Cause it probably needs to be in the beggining of act 1. More over there is the delay to consider of the pet triggering the mines. If it's instant then that's fine, if not that's an issue because it gives the enemy time to get out of the way. Secondarely if the pet triggers it immediatly and mines now are supposed to get stronger with each consequent detonation, the pet can be a cause of DPS loss. All in all, mines still look clunky as all hell. But I'll reserve further judgement until I see it in action.

Contagion not popular? I remember seeing a lot of contagion play in syntesis and even in legion, altho legion was dominated by melee hype. Even with placing them at your feet mines was popular in times, recently not much and not because of detonate but simply they were outshine by traps in terms of dmg and safty they provided compared to mines (u could do much with mines behind a wall). If u want to go brainlessly through maps watching netflix and clicking one button u are most welcome to do so, there are builds that provide that. But coming here with your egoistic, arrogant ideas, uh oh no one wants to press 2 keys in order to perform what pressing a single key should do!, SHOULD DO?! Who are u to tell what should do what? No one want to play piano on keyboard so we should be able to press one button to use all flask, attack and movement skill in order that we want..game should read our minds so we wouldnt even be bother to press ANY BUTTON.
Skitterbots detonate and than rearm mines, so no lose of dps
QOL changes look great.
Simplified crafting of seeing results before you act are welcome.
Master mission stacking thank you.
Delve and syndicate merge on all characters awesome.

Honestly the big concern is managing towers in middle of a fight.

Console players have learned to live with desync (although painful as all hell)

Targeting items like chest and drops can be slow and clumsy for us. I fear it will be near impossible to do this mid fight.

GGG amazing timeframes on content release and outstanding core game functions.
1.League mechanic looks convoluted, non action rpg-ish and meh.
2.Overhaul of ascendancies looks interesting.
3.Finally getting more player agency when it comes to master content = FUCK YEAH!
4.Betrayal/Delve changes will hopefully be good and synth bosses in core = ok.
5.New divs, items, gems etc are always cool.
6.Extra skillbar = now that's some Qol! Hopefully it is, what i think it is...
7.Overall pretty strong stuff, except the league mech... it's quite often that all the changes to core game are fucking beautiful, but the league mechanic is something i don't like at all...

Might be standard time.
Quit after Legion, rejoined PoE to see what the game's like now in 3.12.

While I appreciate slowing the game down, there are players that will not want to stop and babysit something.
This is a terrible idea. Welp, time to take a 3 months break ResidentSleeper
Looks messy and semelar to old leauge :S not fun think im gona skipp this leauge

I find it funny that people say this league is complicated. Come on guys the mechanics are really simple.

Myself I won't play it as I don't like tower defense games. But I am sure there will be a portion of the playerbase who will love this. I do hope it will not get included into the main game as it doesn't really fit PoE.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
Seriously?? A MOBA??? Waaahhaaaahaaaahahahahahahahahooohohohohohohihihihihihihihhohohohohohohohohhahahahahahahahhihihihihihihihi. Hey if you want some ideas for next leagues I have plenty. Maybe try and make a card game ppl LOVE card games. POE NEEDS a card game. Maybe call it Path of hearts Don't worry your not copying your 100% original. Or else how bout doing a Battle Royale. Everyone loves a good battle royale! Maybe call it Exile Legends!! Nah dont worry your not copying your 100% original! Seriously if this would have come out in april I would have thought it was an aprils fools day joke but Im afraid that they are actually being serious... Like I said in my last post this game has become so stale and boring with their 3 month "leagues" setup that they should seriously start thinking of new ideas to shake things up abit.... this however is abit to the extreme rofl. Well wont be playing this league again...... and possibly this game until their is some serious change in it. I feel that since it's been bought by 2 cents it's been putting 90% of it's ressources into micro transactions and 10% into new ideas for the game.... At this rate POE will soon be forgotten

Where is the soul of that game now?

I liked the game so much when it had that dark atmosphere, that desperate mood, that heavy feeling of tension, darkness and gruesome inevitable death, waiting around every corner and turn. When the world hid secrets, had its own history, which I wanted to learn and adore.

Where is that game now? Everything turned into an amusement park pumped up with shiny flashlights and awkward mechanics alien to the genuine design of the game.

Success has killed you, PoE.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
