So, uh, why exactly the 4 cold spells we use to deliver our curses should be kept on levels 7, 8, 8 and 10? You get more than enough Int to use their lvl 20 versions.
Hey Sekiryuutei,

Short Answer: So the full level curses can cast often.

Not So Short Answer: So we don't have to self cast the curses (you're welcome to if you want), we have our curses casting with Cast when Damage Taken gems. CwDT gems have level requirements for when they cast gems. Low level CwDT gems cast often, high level casts much less often. If we weren't using Curse on Hit, a low level CwDT would only be able to cast low level curses. We use Curse on Hit to be able to use a high level curse with CwDT. For CoH to work with CwDT, it needs a spell that Hits to cast the curse for us (curses don't HIT when self casted). So we have to have our "casting" spells in those links a low level so that they can be triggered often by CwDT's level requirements.

Does that make sense? Let me know if not.

Ah I see. I never actually used CwDT nor cared to look at them, so it's not something I knew.

While I'm at it, here's another question. Is the Elemental Overload node actually doing much for this build? Without any crit chance nodes and likely no items, do you even crit frequently enough to have a decent uptime on this effect?

EO procs lots. We have 4 skills attached to low level CwDTs. So even though they only have a 6% chance to crit, you will have EO on a lot. Check out my latest video in this build's playlist. You'll notice EO proc'ing lots. Remember, our character only needs one crit every 8 seconds. But, you do have to get grazed for EO to have a chance at proc'ing.

Ah, I see. I guess I will level it when I get 3 curses running then.

Also gotta say, your build turned out hilarious for me because after I started Act 9, I dropped Doedre's Scorn (Level of Socketed Curse Gems, extra damage on Cursed enemies and Curse duration) and Doedre's Tenure (15% reduced cast speed but 59% increased Spell damage) back to back in a matter of 5 minutes. Of course this build does not require any particular gear or mods, besides probably some extra Attributes to actually use all the gems, but these effects have boosted my gameplay considerably.

Edit: oh and I also dropped that ring that gives you extra Curse in act 2, so it's even more weird. It's like the game is rewarding me for playing something besides bow builds.

Ha ha. That's awesome to get so many appropriate Uniques. Lucky you!

Hey tanshihlek,

CI always requires a different mentality in combat cause there isn't any immediate flask help if you get low on "health". I think 2k ES is fine for CI (depending where you are in the game). You just have to get used to the "get in and get out" style of play.

So that being said, the only thing I can suggest for gear is high resists and high ES. I now it sounds lame, but that's it. Including travel nodes, close to half of the tree is ES nodes. So the life/defense is there. Sorry for the mundane answer.

Don't be discouraged though. Sometimes it's just the Dungeon Crawler life...crap drops. Unless you Hardcore, you could always try CI to try it out and just use an Orb of Regret if you don't like it.
